Big credit to both sets of fanbases. Potential for an electric night.

Excellent article by @matthewgburgess. So many great points, including these:
🎯 "Admissions tests, real grading norms and prerequisite pathways are not tools of oppression; they are tools of opportunity. They provide clarity for students and early warning signals for institutions to intervene before small gaps become failures."
"schools should adopt evidence-based instructional practices and evaluate instructors on demonstrated student learning rather than popularity or ideological conformity"

Every glib, arrogant, virtue-signalling celebrity who’s broadcast the lie that kids will kill themselves if not allowed to transition deserves to have this read aloud to them non-stop through a megaphone for a year.
A landmark Finnish study has found a sharp rise in psychiatric illness among adolescents following sex-alteration procedures.
The peer-reviewed study, published in Acta Paediatrica, tracked every young person under 23 who contacted Finland's gender clinics between 1996 and 2019.
A total 2,083 individuals were studied, with 16,643 matched controls. They were followed for up to 25 years.
Finland's health registers are mandatory, which means no one opts out — this is the complete national picture.
The numbers: psychiatric morbidity rose from 9.8% to 60.7% in adolescents who underwent feminising reassignment, and from 21.6% to 54.5% in masculinising reassignment.
Even after adjusting for prior psychiatric history, gender-referred adolescents faced five times the risk of male population controls, and three times the risk of female controls.
"Psychiatric needs do not subside after medical gender reassignment," the authors concluded.
Referrals after 2010 arrived sicker. 47.9% had already needed psychiatric treatment before their first clinic visit, against 15.3% among controls.
The authors' read: for some adolescents, gender distress may be secondary to other mental health challenges.
The evidence keeps mounting. The silencing continues anyway.
How many more adolescents will be told this is "care"?

The idea that evil and danger aren't real is a wildly popular trope in the messages we see in kids' media, but that's just a drop in the bucket of the problems we face on that front right now.
Equally disconcerting is that much of the media we present to kids explicitly tells them the following:
1. You're perfect exactly as you are, and if anyone tells you to do better or be better, they are probably a bad guy trying to "change" you and should be fought.
2. Success is random luck, not a product of wise choices and deliberate effort or personal agency.
3. Evil people are all really just victims of society and should be pitied and reasoned with, even when they refuse to stop being evil and display zero remorse for their actions.
4. Heroes aren't real. Every person you look up to and admire is really hiding dark secrets. They're just the same as any villain, but better at lying.
5. You never need to think beyond the surface level reasoning of a 5 year old. Children know all. Adults should listen to them more instead of the other way around.
6. Right and wrong are social constructs (true), and *therefore* morality is relative and subjective (false) and anything can be right or wrong depending on the perspective of those involved (actively harmful).
7. If you're struggling to accomplish your goals, it's probably because some nefarious "they" is oppressing you and unfairly preventing you from doing what you want. You don't need to work harder or smarter, other people need to be more accommodating to your needs.
And of course... Tying a lot of the above together leads to.
8. Business is the province of liars, cheats, and swindlers. Entrepreneurs are frauds. Capitalism must be "abolished". Wouldn't it be nice if we just had a benevolent magical princess distributing all wealth equally? It's not like anybody has to create it or anything, it just exists and some people horde it when others starve. That's sad... so we should adopt systems that sound "good" but which have only ever ended orders of magnitude more misery.
And that's just a short list.
I see these themes not just in movies & TV shows, where they're pretty much ubiquitous now, but also in the books and stories I could be reading to my boy. It was pretty exhausting to me before I became a dad, and it's much more so now.

Canada resident breaks down in tears because he life may be over, “I'm about to be a victim of the Canadian healthcare system”
She has cancer. She did everything she was asked to including Chemo, additional tests and seeing the multiple specialists required for surgery. Unfortunately because the way healthcare works in Canada, the process took so long that her tumor has now spread and she’s no longer a candidate for surgery
“ These past five weeks of having to go through the system, waiting for appointments, waiting for diagnostic imaging, waiting for results and reports, my tumor has spread way too far — They let me sit there for two months with no treatment — this is the system that we live in”
What’s crazy is I found this is not uncommon in Canada, and can actually even take much longer than this
On the faster end for high priority major cancer it takes 6–12 weeks from the “we think we can operate” meeting to the OR, plus 4–8 weeks of extra tests beforehand
3- 6 months of sequential waits
Slower provinces can take 6–12 months or more. Quebec’s public lists show thousands waiting for obstetric, gynecologic surgery. The lists show hundreds of people already past 6–12 months mark in waiting
We do not want universal healthcare like this in America
This is what liberals are fighting for

In 2020, Mike Adams committed suicide after being canceled and losing his job as a professor.
Adams was never dishonest. All he did was say things like "rioters are thugs" and "women's studies aren't essential".
Even in death, the media ran awful headlines like this.

Now is not the time for academic reform.
It wasn’t time then either, and it won’t be time in the future, but certainly now is not the time.

This tweet is an example of what's wrong with academia. In a word: sophistry. You are describing the Arday case as a single data point, when you must know this is deeply disingenuous.
He openly lied and committed plagiarism, and even when this was publicly demonstrated, much of Cambridge's academic leadership not only defended him but denounced his critics in the most vicious and slanderous terms.
Like a nuclear meltdown, so much more than one thing had to go wrong to get ust to this point. It bears repeating: a pathological liar and plagiarist, one whose plagiarised work was in any case of a very low standard, was allowed to pass his PhD, get jobs at Roehampton, Durham and Cambridge. At every stage there were committees, examiners, supervisors and administrators who should have notice something or said something. Not a single one did, until a blacklisted rightwing academic, with no official role in all this, blew the whistle on him.
We are not, by and large, producing rigorous, critical scholars in academia. There is too much politics, too much bureaucracy, too much careerism, and too much subject specialisation. It's not just a problem of wooly minds, but of wooly characters - fearful, timid and overly agreeable people make for bad thinkers.
What Arday did was deplorable; I've made my position on that abundantly clear.
But if you're going to argue that the academe is morally rotten, you should bring good evidence to the table.
Case studies are interesting. We can learn from them. But they go on the bottom of the evidentiary pyramid.
We should never generalize from a singular case study. That's bad practice.
It's ironic that the crowd that regularly calls for more rigor in the academe is, itself, often lacking in rigor.

This is absolutely brilliant from Laurence Fox
It's a perfect moment to demonstrate not only how intolerant Islam is but also it proves the entire Oxford Union audience know as well despite pretending otherwise
Laurence is about to unveil an image of the Prophet Muhammad, the whole audience are in suspense, there are interruptions, they plead with him, they try to shut him down, the rules come out, there is an intake of breath
You can tell the room is completely on edge from this!
Because they know if he does, his life will be at risk and the Oxford Union may well be at risk too from the supposedly tolerant religion the other side are defending
Proving Laurence's point, that Islam is not compatible with our society at all
I won't ruin what happens you will have to watch for yourselves but Laurence's trick here is absolutely brilliant and well worth 3 minutes of your time
Enjoy
And @LozzaFox take a bow sir 👏
