#Iraq's PM al-Zaidi is in #Syria, the 1st Iraqi head of state visit since #Assad's fall. In talks with #Syria President Sharaa, a proposal to export 2 million BPD of Iraqi oil via #Syria's Baniyas terminal was discussed. + wider economic ties, security coordination etc.

This is a real photo of one of the victims. Stop using AI slop to desecrate the memory of the martyrs
An adorable selfie by one of the Syrian victims of the Jordanian airstrikes, Lamis Al-Salim, 6 years old. May she rest in peace.

A powerful move. Today, a Christian delegation came to offer condolences for the civilians killed in last night's Jordanian airstrikes in Lajat (NE. #Daraa). Located near the border with Suwayda province, the area has a small number of Christian-majority villages, whose communities are mostly Melkite Greek Catholic. These villages were largely depopulated during the war due to Regime bombardment, which included damage to Churches during the Russian-led offensive of Summer 2018: xitter.cf/QalaatAlMudiq/status/1… After Assad's fall, some Christian residents began returning, like in other regions, but no official stats are currently available for this specific area. The presence of local Christians mourning civilian victims, incl. children from one family, further undermines Amman's claim that the strikes hit #ISIS hideouts & killed 20+ fighters. Jordan officially labelled the airstrikes carried out last night in S. #Syria as retaliation for the killing of 9-10 Jordanian Christians last week by suspected IS elements.

You could have just said nothing and it would have genuinely been much better PR than whatever the hell this statement is. If you remove “Jordanian” from this post, it sounds just like a statement you’d expect to see from the IDF after obliterating a residential block in Gaza.

Imagine literally any other politician in any country on earth saying something like this about a specific ethnic or religious group. For israel, this is just the vox populi.

It's been ~16hrs since #Jordan's strikes in southern #Syria -- and no evidence, in any sources, has emerged to substantiate *any* casualties beyond the 5 children, 1 woman & 2 elderly men killed. Their funeral processions & burials were held this morning.

"Carpet bomb them all". Speaking to The Guardian at an event ahead of Israel’s elections, a young Israeli woman called for Palestinians to be forcibly displaced from the Gaza Strip, saying they should be killed if they cannot be removed.

🇯🇴🇸🇾 Jordan bombed Syria over a church attack blamed on its own citizens. Last week, gunmen attacked a church in Jordan during a funeral and killed 9 people. Police arrested 3 suspects yesterday, and all of them turned out to be Jordanian, with officials saying they didn’t belong to any group. Jordan still sent its jets to strike targets in Syria that same day, calling it revenge for the attack but not saying who it hit. Syria’s state TV now says there are reports of civilian casualties. So if the suspects are Jordanians who acted alone, who exactly were Jordan’s jets hitting in Syria? Source: NBC News / Writer: Daniyal

According to an overlooked BBC and NPR investigation published three weeks ago, the US government is funding and protecting officer Bassam Hassan in Beirut, preventing Lebanon from fulfilling Syria's extradition request. I am using Hassan’s case to highlight the bleak reality of justice in post-Assad Syria. Hassan was arguably the highest-ranking security official in Assad’s final years. He was the vital link between intelligence and defense chiefs, prepared Bashar al-Assad's daily security briefs, and managed external relations. His nephew founded the National Defense Forces (NDF), and his historical ties to the Scientific Studies and Research Center heavily implicate him in the chemical weapons massacre, prompting an international trial summons in 2023. Yet, for the US, his information regarding Austin Tice's remains outweighs accountability to millions of Syrians. It is painful that a figure far more significant than the recently arrested regime officials is openly in Lebanon, completely untouched, which reveals the White House’s true apathy toward Syrian suffering. However, the US stance might have been different if the Syrian government demonstrated a genuine commitment to justice, rather than merely seizing regime cronies' assets in opaque settlements. Where are NDF founder Saqr Rostom, Tadamon massacre perpetrator Fadi Saqr, or Captagon trafficker Naim al-Jarrah? The sovereign wealth fund seized their money, but the men remain free. We cannot expect America to care about Syrian victims when the Syrian state itself has other priorities. Two decades after the Holocaust, the Mossad tracked down Adolf Eichmann in Argentina and brought him to trial. I don't blame the West for disregarding our blood—that much is expected. My blame lies with our own. opensyr.com/ar/pages/p-40 bbc.com/news/articles/c81dld…

Too early for conclusions, but two scenarios seem most likely: 1- Jordan coordinated with Damascus, botched the strikes, and caused civilian casualties, forcing Syria to deny any prior coordination to contain the fallout. 2- Jordan never coordinated. That shows blatant disregard for Syrian sovereignty and undercuts Amman's own efforts to support Syria The next couple of days will reveal more.
Serious questions need answers after Jordanian airstrikes in southern Syria killed and injured several Syrian civilians. JAF said they carried out the operation in coordination with Syrian authorities. Meanwhile, Syria disputed that claim and said Amman acted on its own.

Jordan just did an Israel on Syrian land and bombed a village in Daraa, massacring civilians - in what I can only assume was a retaliatory and poorly informed act of mindless violence following the horrific terrorist attack against Christian worshippers in Karak. They claimed they coordinated this Syrian authorities however the Syrian government categorically denied any involvement or notification. The pictures of mangled child corpses is too grotesque for me even look at, let alone share. The Kingdom has some explaining to do.

What an absolute shitshow. Pure propaganda for ISIS and Israel
Replying to @QalaatAlMudiq
The Syrian Government officially denies any prior coordination with Jordan regarding the airstrikes carried out tonight in #Daraa province which killed civilians & children. It also says it will use the channels to communicate with Amman to affirm importance of joint field/security cooperation in a way that respects Syrian sovereignty. xitter.cf/Sana__gov/status/21148…

The operation was conducted in retaliation for the martyrs of last Friday’s Hmoud church attack in Karak. The terrorists behind the Hmoud attack have ties to the targeted terrorist organizations. RJAF fighter jets destroyed a number of terrorist locations, killing and wounding several terrorists and destroying their equipment. The Jordan Armed Forces stressed that the Arab Army will stand firm against those who seek to undermine Jordanians’ security, reiterating that it will continue working to counter terrorism at its roots, while safeguarding Jordan and ensuring the safety of its people. May the souls of the Karak martyrs rest in peace, and may Jordan continue to be resilient and secure. #Jordan #Jordan_Armed_Forces #Arab_Army
