Read this piece about what’s at stake for Jews, Muslims, and everyone in the U.S. in this Senate race — and Jewish efforts to bridge divides among Jewish voters to build support for @AbdulElSayed in this must-win race: "The fear of what an El-Sayed candidacy means for Michigan’s Jews was palpable as I followed canvassers with @seed_the_vote , a group that, in partnership with IfNotNow Movement and Bend the Arc @jewishaction, is bringing Jews from the area, as well as from around the country, to Jewish neighborhoods in Oakland County to speak with voters and carefully broach the idea of supporting El-Sayed."
Republican Mike Rogers is employing a “strategy of racial arson” in his Michigan Senate campaign against Democrat Abdul El-Sayed, critics say. jewishcurrents.org/in-michig…

I’ve been released from IDF custody with a “warning,” apparently because of my public profile (I told them I wasn’t even a congressmember yet, just a nominee). But several dozen rabbis & participants harvesting olives with me are still in detention. For harvesting olives. They should all be released immediately. To be clear: Palestinians face far worse consequences every day. These detentions by the IDF are one more attempt to undermine Palestinians’ right to harvest their olive groves, travel on their roads, and live in their homes. Yet one more element of escalating, and very clearly state-sponsored ethnic cleansing. We’ll update on their status as soon as we hear.

IfNotNow member and soon-to-be congressman @bradlander, dozens of U.S. rabbis, Israeli solidarity activists, and other international volunteers were detained by the Israeli military while helping Palestinian farmers harvest their olive trees. The IDF also detained the Palestinian owners of the land along with them.

This is part and parcel of Israel’s program of ethnic cleansing: make daily life impossible for Palestinians in order to force them off their land, and punish those who support them — even Jewish clergy and congress members. This is occurring in the West Bank amid the Israeli government’s genocide in Gaza, which has continued despite the so-called “ceasefire” reached a year ago.

This system is enabled by U.S. weapons and military funding, which we must block immediately in order to bring about safety, equality, and justice for all Palestinians and Israelis. We call on U.S. officials and Jewish establishment institutions to demand accountability from the Israeli government for these arrests and for all of its arrests and ongoing attacks on Palestinians.

Palestinian families in the West Bank rely on the olive harvest for their income. Israeli settlers know that—so they burn down olive groves and attack Palestinians, with the goal of making life in the West Bank unlivable for them. Settlers have damaged more than 2,500 olive trees this year alone. aljazeera.com/news/2026/10/2…

Meet the Delegation: Aaron, IfNotNow Member from Chicago “What struck me was just how normalized a lot of the difficult experiences that Palestinians have to go through. Everybody is under constant threat from surveillance or brutality from the IDF or settler violence.”

Now it's time for us to share what we witnessed and experienced with our U.S. Jewish community members and allies so that we can take action together for shared safety — of Palestinians and Israelis, our neighbors and ourselves.

By the official start of the olive harvest last week, nearly 200 related settler attacks had already caused casualties or property damage, incl. to 2,500 trees and saplings. The entire 2025 season saw 185 such incidents. Pickers are receiving support, but they must be protected.

“I want to figure out a way to bridge to people that don't see how it is shared safety. Jews will not live in safety unless Palestinians live in safety…we are family, and we need to build safety together.” Shared Safety Delegation member Marcy (IfNotNow Philadelphia chapter) reflects on how she hopes to use her firsthand experience on the ground to reach members of her Jewish community and bring them into the fight for shared safety.

After bearing witness up close to the realities of Israel's system of apartheid, ethnic cleansing, and genocide — facilitated by endless U.S. military support — our Shared Safety Delegation has gained renewed inspiration from Palestinian resistance  and Israeli solidarity.
