📢 Statement on the zero budget for DepEd's SPED Program 📢
We express our deep disappointment in the removal of the SPED Program budget in the DepEd’s proposed NEP for 2023. We are discouraged that the most disadvantaged and vulnerable bear the brunt of government budget cuts.
We appeal to our champions for children with disabilities in Congress to include these provisions in the DepEd’s budget allocation & language.
We also appeal for the new leadership in the DepEd to implement these policies and make our schools truly disability-inclusive.
We must not lose our gains over the past two years for our most vulnerable children, especially children with disabilities. Let us continue to work together on ensuring education is accessible to all children.
