The 12th BRICS Parliamentary Forum, being hosted by India in New Delhi, provides a significant platform to translate the shared vision of BRICS nations into concrete legislative action, stronger institutions and people-centric development.
The Forum’s four thematic pillars - Resilience, Innovation, Cooperation and Sustainability - reflect the collective commitment to strengthening multilateralism, enhancing parliamentary dialogue, promoting technological advancement, ensuring institutional accountability and advancing inclusive growth.
From AI governance and digital transformation to climate action, poverty alleviation and sustainable development, Parliaments have a vital role in shaping policies that respond to the aspirations of people and address emerging global challenges.
Under the leadership of Hon’ble Prime Minister Shri @narendramodi ji, India remains committed to strengthening the voice of the Global South and fostering a more just, equitable and representative global order through parliamentary diplomacy and international cooperation.

भारत की मेजबानी में नई दिल्ली में आयोजित 12वाँ BRICS संसदीय मंच सदस्य देशों के बीच संसदीय संवाद, लोकतांत्रिक मूल्यों और साझा वैश्विक प्राथमिकताओं को ठोस नीतिगत एवं विधायी कार्यवाही में बदलने का एक महत्वपूर्ण अवसर है।
इस Forum के चार प्रमुख स्तंभ - Resilience (लचीलापन), Innovation (नवाचार), Cooperation (सहयोग) और Sustainability (सतत विकास) - सशक्त संस्थानों, प्रभावी बहुपक्षीय व्यवस्था और समावेशी विकास के प्रति साझा प्रतिबद्धता को रेखांकित करते हैं।

Addressed the inaugural session of the 12th BRICS Parliamentary Forum 2026 at the historic Samvidhan Sadan in the Parliament House Complex.
As BRICS marks two decades of its journey, it stands as a powerful testament to the potential of diverse nations to build consensus, strengthen mutual trust and advance shared global aspirations. Representing nearly half of the world’s population, BRICS offers an important platform for fostering democratic values and deepening parliamentary cooperation.
Under the theme “Fostering Parliaments for People-Centric Development,” the Forum provides an opportunity to reaffirm the central role of Parliaments in strengthening democratic institutions and addressing the pressing challenges of our time.
Our deliberations on Resilience, Innovation, Cooperation and Sustainability will explore pathways to make parliamentary institutions more effective, transparent, accountable and responsive to citizens.
Empowering youth, aligning aspirations with opportunities, balancing development with environmental sustainability, and amplifying the voice of the Global South must remain at the heart of our collective endeavours.
Confident that the Forum will deepen parliamentary partnerships, foster meaningful dialogue and advance our shared vision of a more just, inclusive, peaceful and sustainable world.

India's Inland Waterways Just Crossed 200 MMT
Cargo movement on inland waterways has surged from 29 million tonnes in FY 2014-15 to 218 million tonnes in FY 2025-26, surpassing the 200 MMT target set under Maritime India Vision 2030.
This growth reflects the increasing use of inland waterways for freight transportation, strengthening multimodal logistics, improving cargo connectivity and expanding India’s transport infrastructure.
