Telling people the economy is great when they can’t afford rent and groceries is counterproductive.

#GuaranteedIncome is a transformative economic justice program: “Let’s give people money—not vouchers, not subsidies. [Let’s] not have people prove to us that they are poor enough for support,” says @SpringboardToOp CEO @aisha_nyandoro. (via @MsMagazine) bit.ly/3DmVxSb

Cash programs can make things simpler, with less paperwork and with fewer barriers for people. Most importantly, @harish_i_patel indicates that #guaranteedincome is an "addition—not a replacement—of the social safety net." southsideweekly.com/chicagos…

Americans WANT:
—to raise the minimum wage
—strengthen social safety nets & unions
—make the wealthy & corporations pay their fair share
—and much more
Why won't Congress get it done?
Because their corporate donors tell them not to.

Another driect cash win. Californians making less than $75,000 will get $350, $700 for joint filers making a combined $150,000 or less. Taxpayers in that tier would get an additional $350 if they have any dependents. The maximum payout would be $1,050.

I’m a proud member of a union (@animationguild), and I understand the greatest power we have as workers is our ability to withhold our labor. That power would greatly magnify if all of us knew that, no matter what, we’d always have some cash coming in to fall back on…
When workers have cash on hand, they can:
🛑Leave bad jobs
📚Invest in education
⚒️Build a business
and so much more.
#GuaranteedIncome means stronger communities for all.
