I only knew about @InsightCCED’s important, groundbreaking work under @AnnePriceICCED and had no idea about these internal challenges. I hope her story leads to serious reflection & action from nonprofit boards about equitable pay and practices, especially supporting Black women.
The entire program staff announced their plans to resign on December 31 in solidarity with Price. In the staff’s resignation letter, they called out the board as a key factor for why they were all leaving. phlnthrp.com/3P8MpEY

The answer to this question is ALWAYS Black people, Black women specifically. Policy makers should have a razor focus on lifting up Black women which will in turn, help us all. #BeyondTheNumbers
Q2: Racial and gender disparities in our labor market are deeply baked, and many workers are being left behind in this recovery.
Who is being left out of economic prosperity and what should policymakers do about it?

The root cause of this railroad worker crisis is the disgraceful fact that we have no uniform PAID LEAVE policy in the U.S that protects ALL workers. Forcing this agreement doesn't change that.
We are so good at incorrectly diagnosing problems and spinning in our wheels.

"Someone shoplifting tampons or diapers from a pharmacy counts as a crime. But a corporation stealing millions of their workers' wages doesn't. Tax evasion doesn't." Excellent reporting on our narrative and definitions of crime. TLDR: it's racist.

The Fed keeps diagnosing the problem wrong on inflation & is using tired, ineffective practices as a result. Like why keep doing something that you know hurts the average American but benefits the wealthy? Is your goal? Are we back to trickle down economics here? Shame.
Q3: The Federal Reserve has now raised interest rates SIX times this year. Where in today’s jobs data (or in other key indicators) can we see the impact of these interest rate hikes?

The Fed keeps throwing Black people under the bus with their rate hikes. With double the unemployment rate than white people because racism, Black people will continue to unjustly feel the pain of rate hikes. It's downright atrocious and we should be ashamed.

Any economy/society that does not sufficiently value and resource care work is weak. PERIOD. It's way past time for the U.S to resource #paidleave & a #careinfrastructure if we want to have gender & racial parity in the economy. So the lack of these investments show us ALOT.
Q2: As job growth slows down, how does a weakening economy impact women and workers of color in the labor market? What key investments would create more opportunities for workers of color and women?

Fed rate hikes directly impact mortgage rates. In an already overpriced housing market, rate hikes makes it near impossible for people with ⬇️ of wealth (BLACK & BROWN folks) to own a home. Check out our new series with @npquarterly on this very issue: nonprofitquarterly.org/serie…
