Human rights and democracy continue to be eroded in Russia.
Today at #3C, Ireland condemned 🇷🇺 systematic violation of human rights and curtailment of civil liberties.
Systematic oppression - of opposition parties, human rights defenders, journalists, cultural figures, LGBTIQ+ persons and ethnic minorities - violates human rights and stifles freedom of opinion and expression.

Russia continues to violate human rights in its illegal war of aggression against Ukraine, including arbitrary detention, torture, enforced disappearances, sexual violence and repression.
The 🇺🇳 has documented over 1,000 cases of sexual violence against civilians and prisoners of war in Ukraine.
Today at the Third Committee, 🇮🇪 called on Russia to immediately cease its widespread violation of human rights in Ukraine, halt its war of aggression and abide by international obligations.
Ireland stands with Ukraine.
