I don't know where to begin with this level of ignorance. This is Carla, having purchased a painting from an exhibition. Delighted to find a 'special place in my office' for a scene of riot police at Drumcree, forcing a march down the road. This is why people are fleeing unionism

Such good news. Belfast Council is applying to host the Fleadh Cheoil na hÉireann for a third year in a row, in 2028. It was so much fun. I think about my interview with Donal O’Connor about the potential of the unique soundscape of this part of the world!

Concerns have been raised after a tune associated with hate filled sectarian anthem was played during an Orange Order support parade and rally in Portadown on Saturday night.
The ‘No Pope of Rome’ tune played as a large crowd of Orange Order members gathered in the Co Armagh town on Saturday.

An application by an App. Boys branch in Belfast who presumably would wish to parade through the centre of Derry in December.
Akin to a republican parade across the Shankill ahead of a republican parade in Bangor town centre.
The mindset is *the* issue.
Residents on the Lower Ormeau Road have requested to hold a demonstration at the same time as a proposed loyalist parade through the area.

The author’s views are obvious, but the narrative is balanced and takes us through each decade from the establishment of NI to the fall of Stormont and the failed Sunningdale initiative. Published in 1976, the factual details in each chapter are both fascinating and sobering.

BBCNI is never more comfortable than when discussing the concerns, interests, desires & affairs of unionism.
It comes natural in a manner betraying a culture continuing to have a massive blind spot for nationalists
Drumcree illustrated how this bias can be dangerous for society

Imagine nationalists parading and holding a rally in Derry demanding the right to parade through the unionist Fountain estate.
That is an exact parallel to what the Orangemen & Unionist leadership are demanding.
That mindset is *the* issue. It needs to be confronted head on.
LIVE | The cold weather hasn’t deterred crowds from gathering in Portadown’s Watson Street to support Portadown District Lodge’s Parade through the town.
The parade has now begun, with 26 bands taking part.

It seems I have annoyed all the right people with this post- a good thing.
Drumcree was a very dangerous cliff-edge moment for this society.
Media framing played a huge part in making it happen.
That needs investigated, openly discussed & changes made at our public broadcaster

💥NEW: Mary Lou McDonald - Blame for any strike action in Northern Ireland 'lies at the feet of the British Government'
🎥@sinnfeinireland President @MaryLouMcDonald says the blame for any potential strike action in Northern Ireland lies with the British Government.
🎤She told Chief Reporter @jamesgould23 that the Government's "final offer can't be the final offer."
Her comments come as Secretary of State Sir Chris Bryant meets political party leaders today, with discussions continuing over Stormont's budget crisis.
Executive departments have been operating without an agreed budget since the beginning of the financial year in April and are currently restricted to spending up to 95% of last year's funding.
Ministers in the devolved power-sharing administration insist they cannot agree a budget for 2026/27 without additional financial support from Westminster.
The UK Government has offered an extra £1.5 billion over the next three years in an effort to help balance the books, but Stormont's leaders insist the funding falls short of what is needed.
In response, Sir Chris has criticised what he describes as "irresponsible" overspending by devolved ministers.

📍Secretary of State Sir @RhonddaBryant has arrived at Stormont for talks with party leaders as the budget crisis continues.
🎤 Chief Reporter @jamesgould23 has this report from Parliament Buildings.
We hear from First Minister @moneillsf, who warns Northern Ireland faces a "difficult winter", describing the financial situation as "dire".
Sir Chris Bryant is attempting to break the deadlock, with the Executive insisting it needs more funding from Westminster.
The UK Government maintains that its financial offer is substantial, but so far, no agreement has been reached.

Who chooses the stories?
Who chooses the headlines?
Who chooses the framing?
Who chooses the guests?
Who chooses the questions?
Drumcree has been fuelled from start to finish by media framing.
A major theme needing to be addressed by BBCNI because it tells us something.

I asked Timothy Gaston last night if he’d support a republican parade through Dervock, Broughshane & the Ballykeel area of Ballymena.
He would not.
Opposing nakedly sectarian & supremacist conduct in a divided society is exactly what leaders should be doing.

I have heard no one, in any party or other organization say that a white paper and a citizens Assembly is all we need. The necessary work will take years. That is why we need to start. I suggest how we might do it in my new book Before the Vote.
