Petronas Kaamatan 2025.
Dear Sabah,
As the director, I knew from day one this story wasn’t mine to create — the story already existed. It's your story. We shot this right as the Kaamatan season started — surrounded by the spirit, the culture, and the incredible warmth of the Sabahan people. Semua orang buat kami rasa macam di rumah sendiri.
I paid a lot of attention in this film to actor blocking specifically the house-entry sequence. To unfold the edit based on the actors movement in the space elevated that whole stretch for me. It affirms to me how much emotion can come from movement, positioning, timing.
The Sabah cast and crew — especially in the dressing room scene — walaupun shoot sampai tengah malam, masih ketawa, still kasi energy. That Sabahan positivity, I tell you — contagious. Special shoutout to Cassie Albanus who kept everyone’s spirit up.
The final song, sung so beautifully by Amberly Maidon and written by Florencius Mojikon, was the perfect send-off.
RecRooms score gave the whole film space to breathe — soft, emotional, never trying too hard. You guys are awesome.

Alhamdulillah 🙏🏽 Terharu betul dengan sambutan untuk “Anak Siapa Ni?” tahun ni. Lepas lima tahun tak mengarah Iklan Raya PETRONAS—last sekali masa 2020, tengah PKP—dapat peluang mengarah lagi sekali dengan cerita ni rasa sangat bersyukur.
Nak cari keseimbangan antara lawak yang subtle dengan emosi yang jujur memang bukan senang, tapi bila tengok orang gelak, senyum, dan ada yang rasa sebak sikit… rasa berbaloi sangat. Cerita ni mungkin kecil, tapi hati dia besar
Shoutout besar untuk semua cast & crew yang berbakat dan berhati besar, tim audio yang teliti, dan keluarga Reservoir yang selalu ada, always pushing the work to be better. Korang memang power.

Iklan Ramadan Raya dan Lebaran directed by yours truly. Whats enjoyable about making this is making not only a fun film but the premise is rooted in religion. I truly enjoy making Indonesian ads. Its got a different palette and feeling than Malaysian ads.
