Kyomi Jane Quick Review after 2 full weeks on this pad (35+hours) Specifications: - 490x420 mm - 1.5 mm glass (2.2 mm total thickness) - Highly Textured Micro-Etched Glass w/ Coating and Consistency Tech - 0.7mm Custom Kyomi Silicone Base - 3rd Gen Edgeless Design In The Box: - 20x Bloom PTFE Dots - Kyomi Microfiber Cloth - Kyomi Stickers - Thank You Card & Jane Stainless Steel Card - 1% Chance of a Golden Ticket Mouse and Skates Used: - Beast Miao (Hachiware PTFE w/ foam layer) - Beat X Mini (Shiros) - Lamzu Orcus (stock PTFE skates) - PMM Cyber OP (PMM Smoothies) - GWolves Fenrir Asym (ESPTiger Yanzi & UWS Magic ICE +) - DarmoShark M5 Air v2 (Westlab Orange) ***My Favorite combo was the Beast X mini with Kibu Shiros*** Games Played: - Apex Legends - The Finals - Fortnite - Kovaaks My Impressions: Kyomi continues their packaging with a magnetic front-flip box that is thoroughly themed with Jane all over its contents which continues to make an enjoyable unboxing experience amongst the glass market. I tend to not care too much about accessories in products but it’s always nice to see the improved detail on things like the metal card. Jane displays an assortment of blue colored tones through its glass which really pop and vividly set this fractured reality style of art that NIKUMAN beautifully illustrated. Structurally, Kyomi stuck with the 2.2mm profile that we saw with Ryo and Yuyo. Although we are seeing more trends of even thinner pads I think 2.2mm will forever be a safe sweet spot that allows for pure comfort from arm to pad on a desk. Edges were consistent and have improved since Ryo as well centering wise. As technology and consistency continues to improve within the glass market I don’t think we will be complaining about glass comfort for a while. The base kept the same Kyomi branded silicone grid but keeping with the theme of a dark navy blue. Random side note, beast x temperered and beast x celadon are perfect visually with this pad! Surface: I personally enjoy finding a surface I grow really fond of to see that company further refine or make newer iterations that keep that identity and Jane is exactly that! Ryo has remained my favorite from their lineup and after putting some time on Yuyo a few months back, I remember saying it's nice to have such a refinement but now I would like to see a perfect in between of the two texture wise. Jane has a unique grain feeling to the touch and leaning on the dryer side from the coating but not as dry as some of my Dysphoria pads and definitely not as wet feeling as the Shion. Since Jane has a very dense texture with a little bit more abrasion than Yuyo, skate selection matters a ton to get a desired feel out of the pad. My Beast X Mini with Kibu Shiros brought out that texture pretty heavily. Inclinometer tests had static friction starting around 5.08°, giving it a coefficient of 0.0889 and I tested with Dynamic friction drop tests at 15° and 21° angles. My findings were right in line with what was advertised, bringing Jane right over the edge in speed over Ryo and Yuyo. For non-sleeve users, the skin feel is remarkably smooth, but similar to all my pads, I still resorted to using my sleeves for maximum consistency. In-Game Performance: Jane delivers a glide that bridges the gap between raw speed and tactile control that I could feel in game. Until other similarly advertised pads arrive, I can say that Jane is my fastest textured pad in my collection. Like most extreme speed pads, pushing down gives you a deceleration and not much bite. Jane similarly does this but depending on your grip and playstyle, natural hand heaviness and tension makes people feel like the pad is slower than what it really is. Ryo had this sentiment and although these pads do offer more control with pushdown I can easily say that Jane has lessened that effect from Ryo. It really is a crazy refinement of the two that I feel while gaming. The Finals tracking was butter and didn’t have to worry much about tension management but also that strong tactility gave semi-auto type weapons such control. The faster a pad gets, I always wonder if my clicking scenarios will suffer and thankfully all static and dynamic clicking scenarios in Kovaaks remained the same or improved. When gaming, I tend to play similar scenarios or games while switching out pads within that gaming session so that I can truly dial in my comparisons and for my followers I would say Jane reminds me most of a slightly faster more textured advent or like mentioned above, the faster baby of Yuyo and Ryo. Gaming these past two weeks has been a pure joy though, Jane is easily in my top 5 rotation but many of you know that I love texture. My Cons: My recurring critique for these newer releases remains the sizing. While 490x420 mm is very workable for most setups, I would still love to consistently see 500x450 mm like we saw on the original Ryo release. Minor Disclaimer: Just like the Ryo and Yuyo, the Kyomi Jane is firmly an extreme speed pad with a high skill ceiling. It is not particularly beginner-friendly and requires good independent mouse control and refined tension management. If you are coming straight from a mud pad or heavy cloth, the low static friction and speed potential will take some adjusting although I believe tactility is the single best thing for beginners. All subjective at the end of the day! Conclusion: With the Jane, Kyomi has successfully crafted a pad that uniquely unifies the best attributes of their previous lineup. It takes the tactile, high-density texture profile of the Ryo and fuses it with the fluid, effortless glide speed and refined characteristics of the Yuyo. The team at Kyomi continues to refine and stay in their lane of improving their surface characteristics and fine-tuning glass for speed enthusiasts. Variety will forever be a joy! Hoping to see more new design philosophies next. Just my unwanted input but I would love to see a Speed(balanced leaning) heavy textured pad with Kyomi’s touch next! Let’s slow it down just a tad perhaps although I’ll gladly still accept speed and texture! Thanks for stopping by!🫶

Was able to confirm this with my digital caliper. At this thinness, maintaining complete structural integrity was no issue with zero flex worries. The 4th Gen edgeless design is smooth and well-finished, making forearm contact comfortable during long sessions. I personally don't struggle with any of the edges, but Shion definitely had one of the most satisfying curves and consistency I’ve seen from the edges. Instead of a basic rubber base or foam corners, 1337Gear went with a full custom silicone base. I want to note that for my desk specifically, it grabbed and stayed on my desk with zero budge (though that may always vary). Visually, the artwork collaboration with @iloha_24 beneath the glass looks phenomenal. The colors pop with incredible depth, I love the look of Wisteria and have a good bit of it growing where we live. It is easily one of the best-looking pads in my collection. Unboxing it feels just as premium as other top-tier glass offerings! Surface: Shion features a finely etched glass finish combined with their NEW-GEN001 multi-layer coating that claims reliable performance in any humidity and is 3-5 times stronger than conventional coatings. Hopefully, this continues to hold up over the months and years. Skin-to-pad feel: this has got to be one of the most unique-feeling coatings I have experienced. The best way to describe it would be a very wet or close to greasy feeling. Quite fascinating how coatings can be tuned to have “dry” or “wet” characteristics. Regardless, the wet feeling did not mess with the glide properties of the surface. Under skates, the surface is finely textured and super subtle. You really need to have a skate assortment to experience the differences the texture offers. The included Magic Ice Plus bring out a smoother experience in general. In terms of overall glide speed, this pad easily lands in the extreme speed category and feels distinctly faster with less initial resistance compared to pads like the Ryo, Apex, Mio, and Koku. Drop tests put this pad more in line with raw speeds of Yuyo, Mizuki, and Rin (Global batch). Static friction tests on my inclinometer showed the mouse to start moving at 5.1°, giving it a friction coefficient of =0.089. In-game, this translates to virtually non-existent initial resistance; micro-adjustments start instantly without any feeling of surface stickiness. For non-sleeve users, the skin feel is remarkably smooth, but similar to all my pads, I still resorted to using my sleeves for maximum consistency. In-Game Performance: Due to the pad's high raw speed and minimal initial friction, tracking feels insanely fluid and effortless. In tracking-heavy games like Apex Legends and The Finals, making fast directional changes with your crosshair feels instant without any heavy drag. For Kovaaks, a scenario like Smoothsphere Viscose was a dream! Was able to reach lavender scores with this pad. This pad leans heavily into raw glide speed over built-in stopping bite which makes tension management super important in game. That being said, top speed offerings have this ability to offer a type of pushdown that doesn’t abruptly halt your motions, but gently offers deceleration and acts like a layer of control with weight/pressure. Shion is the type of pad I would pull out for those high magazine and high recoil weapons that allow for easy recoil management, the true run and spray liberating experience. Most people know me for being a heavy texture kind of guy, but thankfully, Shion sits at the just textured enough smooth side that didn't make me feel like I wasn’t getting silent tactile presence. I believe the unique coating feel played a part in that with various skates. My Cons: My one negative for more of these newer pads will forever be the size. I know many factors go into size, but I would love to consistently see at least 500x450 moving forward. Thankfully, 1337GEAR was able to confirm their next release will be a bigger size! Minor Disclaimer: I usually say that extreme speed pads are not beginner friendly, and the Shion is no exception. This surface is definitely tailored toward experienced glass pad users who have refined mouse control and good tension management. If you are brand new to glass surfaces, the raw glide speed might feel a bit overwhelming at first. Conclusion: 1337Gear did a fantastic job with the Shion, offering a uniquely coated extreme speed surface that leans into the slicker, high-glide realm with a refined texture. They continue to branch out on all styles of surfaces—where we saw balanced with the Miu, we saw speed with Shion, and up next we will see control! Variety is good for everyone, and many are ready for a change-up with today’s saturation of the speed market. Xylus has been very involved with answering questions and helping people out in their Discord, which I appreciate seeing in the community. 1337GEAR having another success after their initial Miu debut has me excited for more. Thanks for stopping by!🫶
