Grayson Waller says CM Punk, AJ Styles, and Shawn Michaels are shaping the future of the industry.
“AJ is a big one, especially since he’s been coming down to NXT recently and producing and working in the ring with guys, and he’s really, really fun to work with because I’m an AJ Styles fan. But he lets you go and lets you do you, and just makes everything better. He doesn’t force you to do things. ‘Hey, you need to do this.’ He’s just like, ‘What do you want to do?’ All right, ‘What if we do that?’ You’re like, oh, that’s the best idea. So I wish I got to get in the ring more with him. I only had a few chances, but even him now coming down NXT and helping out. When I finished the match with EK Prosper the other week, I came back through the curtain and the three guys standing at the curtain were Shawn, AJ, CM Punk. That’s three generations of guys who know how much they care about the business and how much they want to give back by the way they were when EK came through. This is a young kid who just in 24 hours’ notice got put in the biggest match of his life, and he got beat. But seeing the look on their face when he came back through tells me everything I need to know about the future of the industry because those three guys are shaping it.”

Grayson Waller on CM Punk
“He says how he feels and thats why people respond to Punk the way they do bc he’s himself. There’s no fakeness and I was like that’s what I need to do.”
“That’s the best promo guy of all time realistically.”

Grayson Waller believes his WWE career was headed towards him working at Chipotle before he moved back to NXT.
"Maybe Chipotle. Maybe I’m giving out extra avocado at Chipotle. I don’t know. The one thing I’ll say, and I mean it. I’m always upfront and honest about situations. I could see the writing on the wall. They’re bringing up these kids from NXT who are super talented, and they’re giving them all the chances. I’m in the background, and it’s disappearing. You go lower and lower. You get more forgotten about. I was gone for sure.
"So when I say I took a risk to go to NXT, it’s a risk because you never know if it’s going to work out. But I trust in my ability, and I just needed a platform. So I think it was something that I needed to do because I need to show them who I am; I need to show them I love this. I’m so good. You are the guys who haven’t seen it. It’s not me; you’re fumbling the ball. I have everything ready to go, but you just don’t know. So I took it upon myself to kind of force it on them. I’m like, hey, you want to know what I can do? I’m going to show you."

Grayson Waller comments on John Cena appearing in NXT next week, says it was sad how excited the roster got:
“So I was backstage tonight when the graphic came up. You should have heard the kids. ‘Oh, John Cena’s coming!’ It was so sad. It was tough. I felt like I was at a fan meet and greet or something. They were all excited, and it put a smile on my face, too.
I’m the only one here who’s been in the ring with John Cena, twice. I’ve been on the mic against John Cena. I survived and not everyone does. But all I hope for John next Wednesday is that he wipes his feet, and he knocks on the door, and he asks me permission to come in my house. And if he wants to get in my ring, he needs to ask permission, too.
I’m sure maybe he’s talking about this John Cena Classic, giving some NXT superstars an opportunity. Well those opportunities I’ve taken, so maybe he needs to come and sit down under my learning tree, and I can tell him how things run in NXT now.”
