I'm realising that some of Dylan's emotional journey regarding guilt is probably more satisfying/understandable/relatable if some parts of the first game flew over your head or you didn't meticulously read every document and tape.

Like if you went out of the first game thinking Darling just did a little woopsie, but part of the problem was Dylan being unpredictable and dangerous and not "an inherently fascist organisation kidnapped a boy and experimented on him until he broke", it's a little different.

No one should feel bad for enjoying Darling as a character. He's awesome and I'm so curious to see more of him. But I wouldn't really call him morally grey. And that's fine. Unless you would call the Marmonts and Hartman morally grey as well.

Considering that Dylan Faden and Tim Breaker are Nick Marsters and Jack Joyce but kind of with reversed roles, I think it would be a great full circle moment if Dylan would save Tim and is then kind of stuck with a guy who thinks of him as a superhero.

I think the issue isn't downloading. The issue is publicly sharing. Because for some reason most people agree reposting fanart is bad, but with fic it's absolutely fine for some reason.
