Love the transparency, and I think you guys are taking a lot of great steps in the right direction to combat cheating. 🙏🏼 However, I think it’s finally time we address Limited Matchmaking, otherwise known as “Shadowbans” by the community. Every day, I see countless streamers, competitors, and above-average players being affected by this system. At first, Limited Matchmaking doesn’t sound like a bad idea—a 1–2 week investigation to determine whether an account is cheating seems reasonable. The problem is when one shadowban turns into a shadowban loop, leaving legitimate players stuck for months. And ultimately, I believe this system is hurting legitimate players more than it’s hurting cheaters. A legitimate player will follow the rules, wait out their investigation, and hope to be cleared. Meanwhile, a cheater can potentially spoof their hardware ID and simply move onto another account. A lot of streamers and I have discussed potential solutions, such as implementing a trust factor that increases as a player is repeatedly investigated and cleared, making it less likely for legitimate players to get caught in these loops. Of course, I understand there are probably countless intricacies behind the scenes that the community isn’t aware of. Most of us haven’t worked for an anti-cheat company, so we don’t have the full picture. Which is why I want to ask: Why does Limited Matchmaking continue to operate the way it does? Are there statistical numbers that support keeping the system in its current form? Are there plans to eventually tweak or replace Limited Matchmaking—or even eliminate it entirely? I genuinely hope you guys respond to this because this is an issue that affects a huge portion of the legitimate playerbase. 🙏🏼
