Over the past weekend, at University Hospital Galway, we had a once in a year event: a patient who needed chemotherapy compounded out of hours.
Our Chief Pharmacist (the most senior pharmacist in the hospital), and one of our senior pharmacists (I’ll let both tag themselves if they would like to be identified!), came to the aseptic unit at 9pm on Saturday night to prepare the chemotherapy.
They were not “on call”.
They are just very good colleagues, pulling out the stops, to deliver a top class service for a patient in need.
It is refreshing to work here in UHG, alongside such high quality people.

It's voices like Stevie's who need to be heard.
These are real people who are facing unspeakable challenges due to the cancer care crisis.
The next UK government has to develop a plan to ensure everyone with cancer has access to the care they need, when they need it.
