Veterans Day, somber. Veterans Day, like a funeral. Veterans Day, grateful. Veterans Day, prayerful. Veterans Day, reverential. Veterans Day

My col: Many players say, “I haven’t digested it yet,” after they win a World Series. Well, I think I’ve digested it. Nats have just pulled off the greatest postseason run from brinks of disaster in MLB history. I doubt it’s even a close call. washingtonpost.com/sports/na…

My guesstimate of the Nationals’ chances to pull out five elimination games against the odds they faced is .0003.

My col: What Nats have done this yr is like going in the backyard w a spade to plant petunias & striking oil. There is no gift like an unexpected gift, no joy like the jubilation when you anticipated sadness. D.C.'s 86-yr wait for the World Series is over. washingtonpost.com/sports/na…
Perspective | Off to the World Series, these Nationals have proved everyone wrong

This unexpected joyride of a season could hold more promise yet.

My col: Sounded like 43,675 at Nats Park screamed, “It’s finally GOING TO HAPPEN!” Great nites like this, w WS a win away, draw towns & teams closer together, and stars like Strasburg & Rendon closer to their towns/teams --and thus less likely to leave. washingtonpost.com/sports/na…

Perspective | The Nats, one win from World Series, are providing a doubt-free sense of release

A region’s fan base, waiting 15 years since baseball’s return and 86 since a D.C. team last appeared in the World Series, is embracing its moment.

Correct. But we did though! Also been hard to survive “Frenchy,” but we’ve done that too. These guys are just talking heads. All the TBS pre-game talking heads predicted the Cardinals. #ShowsWhatTalkingHeadsKnow

My col: We hug fans of Cubs, Red Sox, SF when World Series droughts end. Good! For 118 yrs, D.C.'s gotten hotfoots & raspberry from MLB. It's time for empathy for a city --exiled 33 yrs, lousy for the longest, that's finally in spotlight now: Washington. washingtonpost.com/sports/na…

One title in 118 years? 33 years without a team? Is it too much to ask for the baseball gods to bestow a gift upon the legions of Nationals faithful?
