Jim’s work over the last few years has been truly formative for me philosophically and beyond. In the later stages of my own studies and research, I reached a point where philosophy of mind seemed hopeless. There seemed to be no way forward: at the end of every potential path resides miracles, magic or paradox. The Mind, it seemed, was incapable of explaining its own existence or provenance. It is the most perplexing phenomenon in the universe and also the only thing capable of *being perplexed*. For all its intellectual and reflective power, and all its impressive capacity to comprehend the “world out there”, that success does not transfer when it takes *itself* as the object of inquiry. Jim’s work lays the foundation for a new way forward. A way forward for philosophy that does not demand of the philosopher that she abandon the very intellectual virtues that make her a philosopher as such. This latest work acknowledges the difficulty of the philosophical quest explicitly. Even more, it takes that difficulty as a crucial clue and asks: what if our apparent inability to find the answer we’ve been looking is itself part of the answer? If you happen to be one of those entities walking around with a mind, you should use that mind to read this book
I am excited to announce that my new book, Subjectivity and Its Discontent(s) is available from Lacuna Press! You can find the book here: lacunapress.com/books/subjec… Here is the Introduction: "Confessions of a Recovering Moron," jdmadden.substack.com/p/conf… @intent_dev

Adherents of religion who dogmatically assert that aliens or UFOs are demons are the height of provincial, epistemically closed thinking. We live in an age where we have access to so much information we can study. There is no excuse for this sort of rubbish.

Something we don't talk about nearly enough is the epistemic problem at the heart of UFO disclosure. In short—how do you trust information that is coming from the very people and institutions who job it was to lie in the first place? Even that is grossly oversimplifying things. Because black budget programs of the kind that would house secret UFO-related programs generally have a budget of 6x-7x the size of the regular budget just for security. What does that look like in practice? The Bennewitz case gives us some insight into how elaborate these scenarios can be that are used to manipulate people and shape the narrative in the community. In an environment that is so deeply compromised, how do we know what's true? NEW EP: Truth Crisis: The Deliberate Collapse of Shared Reality with Philosopher James Madden @JDMadden3 The full episode is available early and ad-free for paid Patrons and Substack subscribers. It will be available everywhere else tomorrow. Links in comments ⬇️

Continuing my “accidental” 😂 synchronous contact with @JDMadden3’s podcast yesterday (see previous tweet)… I’ve had a slight cold this week and dozed off. My YouTube “accidentally” 😉 played THIS episode. After I posted, I accidentally found the podcast again. But honestly — it just came up in my feed out of nowhere. As I drifted in and out of sleep, pieces of the conversation kept sliding into my consciousness. Then they start talking about S&M and I’m like: “Holy crap — THIS!!” That whole discussion about wanting to feel pain rather than nothing in today’s world… 😭🤼‍♂️ It hit hard. Then the reference to Heavy Metal music and the theme of PAIN by @JaredZimmerer — a genre I haven’t really listened to since the 80s — also lands in that weirdly perfect, synchronistic way. Fast-forward an hour after I wake up… A brand-new @Aerosmith album drops onto my YouTube feed. Out of nowhere. Cool — but I mostly listen to country??? How is Heavy Metal 🎸 showing up for me? And then I find out my favorite country singer, @laineywilson, is collaborating on the album. Wild Woman. And the lyrics? I don’t wanna be alone So hurt me some more… The synchronicities lately are unreal. music.apple.com/us/album/wil… I need obvious messages from the universe. 👽💚🤔👀🎸

Aberration and the inscrutability of the event itself, at times, it seems, even to one of its primary actors, mentioned in: xitter.cf/JDMadden3/status/19930… And other astute observations: “She seems rather reclusive. Like, you don't see many podcasts with her and stuff, but can you blame her?. I'm sure I'm sure her inbox is full of weird stuff.”

@JaredZimmerer and I are talking Manson, Mindhunters and mediation by fantasy. This one is full of dialectical reversals, and we tip our hat to fine work by @BirdWendy2 and @fourthreichpod. youtu.be/vOM-L4fcrK0?si=nsqO… open.spotify.com/episode/4jc…

LLMs have shown us that language has a self-generating mind of its own. The deep conviction and rage we feel towards others is a proxy war being waged by foreign occupiers —ideas, beliefs—that draft our minds and emotions to fight our fellow conscripts.
