JAY-Z BREAKS DOWN WHAT MADE BIGGIE A GREAT WRITER AND THE CHALLENGE OF WRITING FOR DR. DRE JAY-Z: “Biggie was one of those ones who didn't run from controversy, whether it made him look bad or not. Most people's egos wouldn't allow them to say that.” “He had such an endearing quality as a writer. ‘Black and ugly as ever’ — that one word was so powerful. Anything he said after that was going to be amazing.” JAY-Z also explained his approach to writing for Dr. Dre after he left Death Row: “I had to get into his psyche. What would he be thinking right there? I would be thinking, I have to remind people that I'm Dr. Dre.” “It's like a cooking show. These are the ingredients I have to work with, and I'm going to make them make sense. And it can't be corny.”

For anyone confused, here's a sketch about it
kinda reminds me of how if you think about it for more than two seconds you realize that the entire economic system we live in was built around slavery and has been scrambling for slavery-replacement for like 150 years

Some interesting Kai Havertz numbers I ran this morning, in wake of the contract talk: — All time Arsenal G+A per 90 (+5000 mins) Kai Havertz is now up to 13th, above every eligible member of the current squad. — End of 23/24, had 1.2 G/A per 90 for a 16 game PL sample. That's above Henry's all time G/A record. — Winter 24/25 before the injury, 1.03 G/A per 90 for a 14 game PL and UCL sample. — January 2026 to the Chelsea game at home recently it was 0.97 G/A per 90 for club and country. — All-time leading German goalscorer in the Premier League with 46 goals, overtaking Ilkay Gündogan. — By September 2026, Arsenal’s Premier League win rate with Havertz was 72.7% while without him was 52.4%. — Kai Havertz had scored or assisted in 48% of his Premier League starts for Arsenal (29/61), the highest percentage of any player under Mikel Arteta. Are Arsenal fans genuinely proud of the way their team plays? Baffles me.

Liverpool have committed more fouls this season than any other team in the Premier League. Arsenal are joint 17th. Liverpool rank joint fourth in the league for yellow cards. Arsenal are joint 17th and Liverpool have one red card to Arsenal's none. Arsenal's highest entry in the most fouls committed by a player in the league is Myles Lewis Skelly at 34th, joint with Szoboszlai. There are four Liverpool players who have committed more than MLS. This is fan fic nonsense.
Sunday merely served to reinforce the belief that Liverpool as a team are far too nice. There’s a difference between being streetwise and cheating. It wasn’t pretty, but Arsenal produced a masterclass in the former in the second half on Sunday. Andoni Iraola was clear post-match that there will be a change of approach. He will tell his players to start going to ground when they are impeded in the box. It’s a sad state of affairs, but needs must. 📝 @JamesPearceLFC 🔗 bit.ly/3V3E2BJ

I remember Arsenal beating us at Old Trafford in Nov 2020 and it was the first time in 29 games they had won away vs a big 6 side. Crazy to think that then between early 2023- aug 2025 they then went 22 games against big six sides unbeaten. The work Arteta has done to turn a once banter club into a european force is crazy.

Max Dowman serving a three match ban while both those Nyoni tackles aren’t even a yellow. Difficult not to despair really.

Man City 0–1 Brighton | City ran the game, Verbruggen kept the result City had 79% of the territory, 21 shots and 2.08 xG. Brighton scored once and spent 80 minutes defending it. That’s the whole match, but the details matter. ⚽ One mistake, one goal 10': Brighton worked the ball wide, Diego Gómez put it across, and Matheus Nunes made the error that left Yasin Ayari free in the middle of the box. First touch, 0.45 xG, goal. It was Brighton’s best chance of the game, and it came before City had settled. 🔵 City did everything except score The territory was completely one-sided: 18 box entries against 5. 60 progressive passes against 43. 11 deep completions against 5. 24 crosses, 10 of them completed. City’s press also worked. PPDA was 5.4 against Brighton’s 8.5, with 19 high regains to 11. City’s transitions produced 0.62 xG; Brighton’s produced 0.07. But the chances were packed into a crowded box. City averaged 0.099 xG per shot. Eight were blocked and seven missed the target. Set pieces didn’t help either: 0.56 xG from six attempts, and nothing. 🧤 Verbruggen made the difference City put 1.70 post-shot xG on target, which means the strikes themselves were good enough to score more than once. Bart Verbruggen made seven saves and conceded nothing. That’s roughly 1.7 goals prevented in one afternoon. Haaland had four shots for 0.50 xG. Ndiaye had the best chances, 0.61 xG, and hit the woodwork on 75'. 🛡️ What Brighton did right They didn’t try to keep the ball once they were ahead. After the goal, Brighton produced 0.22 xG per 30 minutes and were happy to defend the box. When they did have the ball, they still found the line: 21 line-breaking passes against City’s 17. Every one of their five box entries ended in a shot. There was also a cost. 25% of their losses in City’s half turned into a dangerous counter, against 11.5% for City. Brighton left space behind them, and City got into it, but couldn’t beat the keeper.
