Honored to have joined @MayorofSeattle for an important conversation with Jewish leaders on the rise of antisemitism & hate and how our city can push back and remain proactive with actions of support and inclusion. Thanks @JFSSeattle for hosting!
Last week I joined Jewish leaders for a discussion on anti-Semitism and actions the City can take to support our Jewish community. Our vision of #OneSeattle is committed to being an inclusive, welcoming place for all, and we will not tolerate hate or discrimination in any form.

Ye is an extraordinarily influential American artist-musician-rapper with 18 million followers on social media— 3 million more than there are Jews left on the planet. @mcypers and @CitizenRabbi of @JFSSeattle on why we cannot afford to be indifferent:

Last week, @LorenCulp referred to COVID-19 as the "Chinese Virus". Two years into the pandemic, we're not going to let it slide.

We denounce this hate and support those impacted. As the Chair of my Committee, I would gladly create space to hold these vital conversations and to work as a collective to build a safer future for all of us.
We stand in solidarity with our Jewish neighbors today and everyday.

We are disturbed by escalating antisemitism in King County, and around the country. From hateful graffiti this week, to shootings, and terrifying hostage situations at synagogues, we see that antisemitism is growing and a threat to our Jewish friends and family everywhere.

We will not tolerate anti-Semitism in Seattle – period. This disgusting act of vandalism is a sad reminder that hate can target our communities at any time and in any form. We must all speak out and reject this vile attack loudly and unambiguously. 🧵

As such, I will be convening a call with Jewish leaders to reiterate Seattle’s support for the Jewish community. We must lead every day with inclusivity – ensuring this is a welcoming place for all people, no matter their religion, creed, race, or background.
