My resources in France have told me that the guy behind Monaco's recruitment was snapped up by Lille. Wouldn't be surprised if LOSC improve

The water is almost certainly full of sewage as well. This is torture on a mass scale.
Ten minutes of rain were enough to reveal the suffering of an oppressed and wronged people.

Haven’t heard a word about any of this on the BBC, NYT, FT etc. Torture blacksites run by neo Nazis. The whistleblower who exposed it being brought up on charges. But of course this is all about defending “democracy”

They fucking LOVE to say "why are so concerned with what's happening at the other side of the world instead of local issues" and then completely destroy local services because your council is insufficiently loyal to a genocidal state that is clearly dictating our own govt policy

As Palestine Action is a proscribed organisation, showing support for the organisation is a criminal offence. Now, it appears, offering logistical support to its supporters - even if you don't personally express support for the organisation itself - has also been deemed to be potentially criminal. What about if you support the deconscription of PA as a matter of civil liberties? Is that "showing support"? What about if, as a lawyer, you represent supporters in legal proceedings? Are all lawyers to get the Rajiv Menon treatment now, too? Where will this authoritarianism in the name of protecting a genocidal ally actually end? Will criticising Israel actual be made a criminal offence?

Anyone planning to attend a demonstration in support of Palestine Action in the vicinity of the US Embassy on Saturday, 31 October will face arrest as part of a robust policing operation. Expressing support for the group is an offence under the Terrorism Act following its proscription in June 2025, a decision upheld by the Court of Appeal in June 2026. Is it fine to call this woman’s views dangerously racist or does one risk jail time in the UK for doing so?
"Carpet bomb them all". Speaking to The Guardian at an event ahead of Israel’s elections, a young Israeli woman called for Palestinians to be forcibly displaced from the Gaza Strip, saying they should be killed if they cannot be removed.

🚨 Lula Mounts Comeback, Wins Brazil Election With 96% of polling stations counted, President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva has pulled ahead of Flávio Bolsonaro by about 4.1 million votes, 51.73% to 48.27%, according to Brazil's Superior Electoral Court (TSE). Projections show Lula winning a fourth presidential term against the son of jailed former President Jair Bolsonaro, who beat him by more than 2 million votes in the first round and led the early count tonight. Datafolha, the polling institute of the newspaper Folha de S.Paulo, has called the race for Lula. So has Andrei Roman, CEO of the pollster AtlasIntel, even though his firm's final poll on Saturday had Bolsonaro narrowly ahead. The Brazilian outlet ICL also called it for Lula. The TSE has not yet declared an official result.

The Financial Times: “Macron’s state managed to appear simultaneously repressive and weak. The French riot police routinely use tear gas, stun grenades and rubber bullet launchers, even against peaceful schoolchildren. The policy seems to be to do everything short of killing — France’s last two major riots, in 2005 and 2023, broke out after youths died in confrontations with police.”
🇫🇷 French police have left protesters with injuries that human rights lawyers told outlets compare to those seen in conflict zones, as a student uprising over crumbling schools and the cost of living enters its fifth week. Over Saturday and Sunday alone, French outlets StreetPress, Index and ViolencesPolicières(dot)fr collected several hundred videos and testimonies. Cases they documented include: 🔸 A 17-year-old in Saint-Étienne whose hand was torn off by a police grenade 🔸 A 17-year-old girl in Mulhouse who lost the sight in her left eye after being hit by a tear gas grenade 🔸 Protesters in Paris, Lyon, Strasbourg and Besançon beaten with batons and kicked while on the ground, including one held in a chokehold France's police watchdog has opened at least 36 investigations into police violence against high school protesters. Christophe Calvao, president of the Paris Young Lawyers' Union, denounced "an increasingly systematic use of crowd-control measures that would normally be reserved for much more serious situations." Interior Minister Laurent Nuñez has said police "must be able to use all intermediate weapons," and on Tuesday vowed to "step up" for the next mobilization. France Unbowed leader Jean-Luc Mélenchon said his party and unions know how to keep marches peaceful by deploying hundreds of volunteers, adding: "We could at least expect police to do something other than fire indiscriminately into the crowd." Melenchon also noted that most European countries ban such grenades, and that Nuñez suspended them only to reinstate them "not even 48 hours" later. 🎥 Edited by @samivanderlip. Widespread voter suppression is reportedly being carried out by local government officials aligned with Flávio Bolsonaro. They're breaking the law by keeping public buses in the garages to prevent poor and working classes Brazilians from voting. This is very serious.
