We wrote a book! It’s coming out soon and it’s ready for pre-order wherever you buy your books (aka Amazon) a.co/d/089ZGOtK
Excited to announce that @JSeyff and I have a new book coming out this fall called "Both Sides of the Coin" which is available for pre-order now. We thought it was time for a fresh look at bitcoin/crypto post-ETF and sought to write a fair and balanced book for everyday TradFi investors as well as crypto natives that tracks the risks, rewards, evolution and financialization of the asset class as well as the growing debasement/debt problem. We took great pains to cover as much as ground as poss in this 370-page book, no stone was left unturned. Here's a look at the chapters:
1. Bitcoin in a Nutshell (much more of an engineering feat than most ppl think)
2. The Currency Debasement Problem (inflation, debt etc is crucial for anyone hoping to understand the ‘purpose’ of btc as well as the rise of socialist politicians)
3. Store of Value Smackdown (btc vs gold)
4. Bitcoin in a Portfolio (hot sauce, for now)
5. The Filing Heard 'Round the World (the untold inside story of how Blk/Larry Fink evolved enough to file for ETF)
6. The ETF Solution (ETFs have solved for good bitcoin’s ‘intermediary problem’ eg FTX, Coldcard etc)
7. Suitcoiners (wall street/govt adoption, which OGs should embrace not dump on)
8. Alt Coins (top 12-ish cryptos explained in detail as well as how to evaluate them)
9. A Tokenized Future (the blockchain-ization of wall st and beyond)

this is gold's quantum FUD but it's way worse because you can't software update gold.
Last month, we demonstrated high-rate alchemy: turning mercury into real, stable gold, beating CERN’s record by a factor of 10.
Last week, we enriched isotopes in the world’s most powerful plasma centrifuge, beating the Soviet record that stood for 40 years.
Now, we’re building a fusion reactor in San Francisco to achieve record power density.

This is total nonsense.
We're one of the largest early investors in Polymarket, and this story that Shayne was "caught red-handed" using company money is just a flat out garbage hit piece.
Shayne wasn't taking a salary. He was 21 when he started Polymarket, he was living hand-to-mouth running the company out of his apartment, barely making ends meet when he was raising his seed round. We were his first term sheet and literally offered to loan him money personally, but he ended up not needing it when the seed round came together.
After COVID and the crazy Biden-era crackdown on crypto that was happening at the time, there was a lot of chaos in almost every company in the industry. As an investor, we saw a lot of companies go through pandemic-era startup craziness, and Polymarket was no exception.
But Shayne disclosed every dollar he spent, which turned out to annualize to about a software engineer's salary. That's including the flights, none of which were personal flights. Plus, SHAYNE STARTED the accounting and payback process, no one “found” it. In aggregate, it was nothing that an investor would balk at. He paid it back to the company in full, and then got on a normal salary like everyone else.
It was an accounting problem, not an integrity problem. It was not a big deal.
Polymarket has had growing pains, no doubt. It went from a small fledging startups to one of the most explosive consumer brands in America. But Shayne has leveled up alongside the company, and as investors we have total confidence in him.
Enough of this stupid FUD.
The end.
🚨 BREAKING : Polymarket CEO Shayne Coplan caught using COMPANY MONEY for Private Jets flights.
Peter Thiel caught him red-handed using his investment money as a personal wallet.
Founders Fund, Peter Thiel's fund, discovered that Shayne had charged the following as company expenses :
- private jet flights
- apartment rent
- designer clothes
They immediately demanded a FULL REFUND
Shayne was forced to reimburse the money.
ICE and Founders Fund then teamed up to push for stronger financial controls
They were the one that forced Shayne to appoint a COO.
You remember Shayne's ChatGPT written tweet gleefully announcing the hiring of Collin McKinney Hill as COO ?
I called it extremely suspicious at the time. Turns out i was right, investors basically forced Shayne to hire him as a soft coup.
I don't know how long Shayne can stay in place when their main investors have lost confidence.

Ed Zitron, a newsletter guy who's been calling the AI top for years, just had an absolute crash out 😂
"Jensen Huang is a piece of shit. Every hyperscaler CEO is too."
He even apologized to his readers for having been too polite before.
This is what being wrong on AI that long does to a man.
What's next, Ed? Jensen did 9/11? 🤣

“Both Sides of the Coin” by @JSeyff and @EricBalchunas is a fantastic and very human travelog of how we got here in Bitcoin. It not only captures the very real debates of the crypto-now, it provides a clever, often funny guidebook for some of the crazy that happened along the way.
Some favorite headings:
“Who orange pilled Larry Fink” (a ten page investigative journalism aside)
“Each Blockchain has an army of maniacs/enthusiasts”
“I get knocked down (but I get up again)”
“Psychological Assets”
“Not trusting the government is utterly American.”
Plus it’s got this amazing quote from @ElisabethKashne

Trump Accounts may soon be expanded even more to anyone under 40yrs old. That would be another 100 million people, on top of the 70 million kids and 3.5mil babies born each year. This according to Brad Gerstner who is the main guy spearheading efforts on this. He also said Elon is 'tip of iceberg' Nice scoop and piece on it from @LydiaMoynihan @nypost

I gotta stop re-editing my tweets and just go with the first version. lol. I always screw up a grammatical typo or something. I should just start using AI for my tweets like 80% of this app nowadays. I mean…“which will means it will”
BREAKING🚨 @BlackRock just filed for another Bitcoin ETF. This one will be a "buffer" Bitcoin ETF which will means it will offer downside protection but investors will give up some upside to get that protection. Ticker will be $PBIT.
Replying to @JSeyff @BlackRock
Notably, this is the third Bitcoin ETF filing from them. Still only have Bitcoin and Ethereum products -- no other cryptos. Also, this product will hold $IBIT as the underlying asset and will write/buy options around it to generate the defined outcomes. It will be a 40 Act fund.
oh. i forgot to actually type out the name of the fund but it's in the original image:
The "iShares Bitcoin Managed Protection ETF"
Should add that this is nowhere near the first of its kind. There are defined outcome/buffered Bitcoin ETFs from Calamos, First Trust and Innovator. But when BlackRock does something (particular in this space) it tends to make a big splash.

The "my house hasn't burned down so why am I paying for a fire dept" libertarian idealists are back at it today. A society with voluntary taxation is a prisoner's dilemma and a pipe dream. If you're mad at how your local govt spends money, it's time to start fucking voting.

The irritating thing is that this guy, and to some extent, his entire generation, really do think that they're the victims in all this, the people getting screwed. When literally no generation in the history of this planet has ever been treated as well on a relative basis.
“I’m old. I’ve paid my home off,” said Ray Warner, a 72-year-old Akron resident. “Why would I pay property tax?”
Across the country, homeowners are asking the same question and revolting against property taxes at a scale not seen in a half century.
