Public ownership of the Bears sounds like the path
Sen. Bernie Sanders and Texas Rep. Greg Casar want communities to be able to buy a sports team before “billionaire owners” try to move it, very pointedly bashing the Chicago Bears’ effort to relocate to Indiana. chicago.suntimes.com/2026/03…
Hmmm, anyone who wants the moratorium to expire wants more gun violence, zero savings and exacerbating enrollment decline. edweek.org/leadership/the-ha…
CPS board prez elect Jessica Biggs confirms, “My intention is to let the moratorium expire,” adding no schools would close w/o community input. “We need to make sure that we’re thinking through how to provide a really robust” edu exp. W @KateArmanini: chicagotribune.com/2026/11/0…

Just like Elon couldn't buy Texas, Michael Sacks couldn't buy our first fully elected Chicago School Board.
Our pro-workers, pro-immigrant, pro-peace, and people powered progressive movement won. We are ready to hold the fascists accountable and deliver EVERY SINGLE THING working people need to thrive.

Rarely do I agree with Frank but he is right. CTU was outspent 5-1 and fought Michael Sacks to a draw. It was a net loss of seats for the Mayor and CTU but not an outright loss. Sacks and his political team have proven again to have little ability to affect Chicago elections.

It appears that Jessica Biggs won, but it seems as 10 CTU-backed candidates won. That means Biggs won't have a coalition.

I think this is an anti-Black slur. I think he should remove it.

Ashley Moody NEVER walked the line with you @TeamsterSOB. But ok brother. Shout out to all the rank & file Teamsters that are voting for me. I will ALWAYS STAND WITH YOU!
Teamsters General President Sean O’Brien here. Just voted in the State of Florida for the first time, and very proud to have cast a ballot for @SenAshleyMoody. Sen. Moody has been extremely helpful working with the Teamsters to protect workers’ pensions, defend good-paying jobs, and support well-funded union apprenticeship programs. The Teamsters look forward to working with Sen. Moody in her role on the Senate HELP Committee to pass the Faster Labor Contracts Act and get this critical legislation signed into law to protect American workers.

Deplorable and embarrassing.
Capitulating to fascism, Islamophobia, racism and the policies hurting everyday Americans makes you unfit to serve with the Democratic caucus.
Shame on Haley Stevens. She must be removed from the caucus.

Chicago votes for its first fully elected school board for the first time on Tuesday. While we’re pushing for Public School Champions, billionaire-backed groups have spent more than four times as much attacking Hilario Dominguez as for the top-supported candidate. Some of the same people who spent years fighting an elected board are now paying to win it. And while all that is happening, IL lawmakers are talking about public money for a new Bears stadium when our schools still haven't been fully funded.
Before you vote, think beyond the headlines. Ask why. Swipe through, then share this with someone who's voting.
Vote on or by Tuesday, Nov. 3. Make your plan at ctulocal1.org/vote.

Letter to the Editor: We know the federal government is failing Chicago students by cutting key funds. Our leaders in Springfield can and must do better by adequately funding CPS. chicagotribune.com/2026/10/2…

We've seen plenty of scary things in our schools: leaky roofs, closed buildings, budgets that come up short every year. But nothing scares us more than a school board bought by billionaires. We have the power to stop the Spooky billionaire takeover.
Early voting is open through Tuesday. Find your site at publicschoolchampions.com and vote for the Public School Champions slate, with Hilario Dominguez for president – Punch #124.

The overwhelming majority of school board candidates reject school closings. #FixedIt
A dozen of Chicago's 45 school board candidates say they'd support some school closures.
It’s a small but striking number given how loath politicians here are to touch the issue.
Other candidates question whether plummeting enrollment is even a problem.

Rest in peace, Dolores Huerta, the legendary civil rights activist and creator of the UFW slogan: “Sí se puede.” ❤️
Huerta was a friend to workers and educators in California and across the country, and the recipient of AFT’s lifetime achievement award at this past year’s convention.
Through her work with the United Farm Workers, she helped uplift Chicano, Mexican, and Filipino field workers. Alongside Rev. Jackson Sr., she helped bridge the Rainbow Coalition, marching together in Delano, Chicago, and across the country.
Because of Dolores’ work, immigrants and workers secured better wages, improved working conditions, environmental protections, and voting rights.
Another reason to impose a city corporate head tax when state and federal bodies won't hold these mega corporations accountable.

Illinois promised to fully fund our public schools by 2027. We're almost there, and CPS is still$1.9 BILLION shortof what the state's own formula says our students need.
That means schools without enough nurses, educators facing layoffs, and students losing critical services and support.
Mayor Brandon Johnson has proposed directing approximately $286 million in TIF surplus funds to CPS. Now it's time for Gov. Pritzker and the Democratic supermajority in Springfield to step up and fund our schools.
The Illinois General Assembly returns for veto session November 17, with its final scheduled day on December 3.If lawmakers fail to deliver the additional funding our schools need, CPS could face another round of devastating cuts, furloughs, and layoffs as soon as January.
📞 Call your state representative and state senator TODAY.Tell them to prioritize fully funding our public schools during veto session. Our students can't wait.✊🏾
Authoritarians are losing ground .. Orban, Bolsonaro, Vucic, Netanyahu. Trump is next. Get out to vote November 3rd.

Chicago's working families deserve a city budget that invests in our schools, neighborhoods, and communities.
As corporations like Amazon rake in billions, Chicagoans continue to face rising costs and underfunded public services. It's time for corporations to pay their fair share.
We're standing in solidarity with thePeople's Unity Platformas they call on city leaders to put working people and our communities first in next year's budget.
