Here's the thing about this Browns team. They needed to improve the OL the past two years. It never happened. LT: Jed Wills - bust. Turnstyle backups. Relied on overweight and often injured Dawand Jones to hold the spot. LG: Joel Bitonio - old, average LG. C: Ethan Pocic was good for two years but showed decline in 2024 and has been back to Seattle levels past 16 games. RG: Teller had two great years, declined been on a downward trajectory for 3 years now. Mediocre. RT: Jack Conklin always injured. Backups are awful and get hurt too. They've tried to draft developmental for several years and none of them have developed at all. When you swing for the fences with Watson and he's suspended, injured and bad when on the field, this is what happens. Lack of 1st round picks that could have netted -OT Tyler Smith or C Tyler Linderbaum in 2022 -HB Jahmyr Gibbs, WR Jaxon Smith-Njigba, Quentin Johnston, Zay Flowers, or Jordan Addison in 2023 -WR Brian Thomas Jr., G Jordan Morgan, OT Tyler Guyton, WR Ladd McConkey in 2024 Obviously they could have made trades but those players were available at their picks. This year they went Mason Graham instead of Armand Membou. We'll see how that pans out but for a team with a top 5 D and the worst offensive in the NFL, it's going to be a questionable decision. Is this on Stefanski? I'm not sure. They lack serious talent on the offensive side of the ball. Dillon Gabriel is not an NFL caliber QB. The OL is arguably the worst in the NFL. And the WRs can't separate or catch the football. The team as constructed can't generate points because the OL is a sieve, the QB can't see and the WRs can't get open. How much is it on Stefanski to get his GM to give him a better OL? What happens behind closed doors? Is Stefanski fine with his OL so Andrew Berry looks to improve other parts of the roster? Or is it solely on Berry to make these assessments and Stefanski just coaches? We don't know these answers fully. If you can't block, you can't win. It's really as simple as that. So whatever your opinion of Stefanski is, we fans have no idea who is to blame for the worst offensive roster in the NFL.
