The fight was there, but now the Kings have to learn how to win. Sacramento gave up a late run to the Memphis Grizzlies that turned a highly competitive game into a 123-112 defeat. Here are six quick thoughts as the Kings open the 2026-27 season 0-3 and now head out on the road:

5. Better? De'Andre Hunter just can't seem to figure out who he is with the Kings. After another slow start, hit a couple of threes and did a nice job on the glass on his way to a 7-point, 5-rebound performance. He's the fifth option, which isn't easy, but the Kings need more on a nightly basis.

6. The Malik Monk of it all. Monk missed the entire preseason and the first game. He is still working his way back into NBA shape and the Kings need him desperately. Monk played better in this one, but he just doesn't have his lift yet. He posted 6 and 2 assists in 12 minutes.
