What happens when the VC market is frozen ?
Well, I had a look at every InsurTech startups that announced a round in 2021 (i.e. 18-24 months ago) and how their teams have evolved.
In average the have downsized their teams by -15.5%.
Here we are in the European InsurTech scene too 📉
The drop in VC money is eventually having an impact on startups' teams.
And there are two patterns spotted among Series A / B startups :
1) those that had no other choice have removed employees (the pattern is ~20%) ;
2) the most performing and / or those that raised money more recently have rather stopped new hires.
In both cases that's what we spotted in the US tech market last year.
