Investing in long-term care builds both seniors housing and economic resilience.
In Chatham, the new St. Angela’s Meadow Care Centre (opening in 2026) will replace Meadow Park Chatham and increase local long-term care capacity by nearly 60 per cent. Construction is generating $86.3 million in GDP and $60.3 million in labour income.
More homes for seniors. More health care careers. A stronger local economy.

Ontario is committed to building long-term care like never before – and local economies are benefiting.
In Orangeville, the redevelopment of Avalon Care Centre will modernize 137 older spaces and add 23 new spaces, contributing $91.9 M to GDP and $60.4 M in labour income.
This is just one of 147 homes and 23,977 spaces in progress across the province. More jobs. Stronger communities. Better care.

Today is Long-Term Care Community Engagement Day!
In Simcoe North and across Ontario, our long-term care homes are at the heart of our communities. They provide compassionate care, dignity, and support to seniors and families every single day.
I want to recognize the dedicated staff, volunteers, and families who make these homes welcoming places, and to celebrate the residents who enrich our communities with their wisdom and experiences.
Let’s take a moment today to thank those who work tirelessly to ensure our seniors receive the care they deserve. Together, we can continue building stronger, more connected communities.
