Have you heard of farUVC and portable air filtration solutions in schools? How about N95s in healthcare facilities? If you’re going to get serious about PREVENTION of infection, you should start with airborne transmission.
Kids shouldn’t be dying of preventable infectious diseases.

I was on a packed bus yesterday, a 40 minute journey, and a few other people on board were coughing and sniffing. I was wearing my FFP2 as always. It struck me on that short trip just how easy it is to drastically reduce your risk of airborne infection. For such a huge benefit.

Doug Ford is meeting Quebec’s Premier today, behind closed doors. How did Ontarians find out? From QUEBEC’S public agenda! Why does another province provide more information about our Premier’s schedule than his own office? Transparency isn’t optional. Who are you accountable to?

Covid is spreading to cats and no one is talking about it. A newly adopted kitten from a shelter starts with watery eyes, sneezing, coughing, fatigue and breathing trouble. Vet calls it a “respiratory infection,” hands over L lysine and probiotics. Next day the kitten is worse, struggling more to breathe. Vet is closed. When the entire world is moving through another Covid wave and the pet suddenly shows the same respiratory pattern, that is a clue. The Covid wave does not stop at humans. It keeps going. Cats are documented reverse zoonotic hosts.

As a veteran, I’m disgusted. When someone from Kuwait asked about your poppy, you had a chance to educate and build understanding. Instead, you chose to be an asshole. Proudly sharing that exchange shows your total lack of awareness and humanity.

I flat-shared with 4 others in London age 20. I had finished Uni...worked a good job Selfridges, slept on friends floor to try save for my own place closer to town. A flatmate was a loud obnoxious Australian, scary even, everything was shouted..he was horrible, I avoided him, he would find ways to demand more money from me. I paid towards council tax and some towards 'floor' as well as of course my part of general bills too so we never knew why he was being so vile..aside from vile sake... I came home from work to a flat party at 8pm. I was handed a coke, I can't drink alcohol, I have crohns..it hurt to drink. I have ZERO recollection of anything until 6am, i was ontop of him, he was SA'ing me fully. I was a virgin saving myself. I am autistic, I had serious issues with people touching me. I immediately jumped off..horrified...there were others in the room one guy watching it all...I still can barely speak of this..but there is a point. I IMMEDIATELY packed my suitcase. I was so confused...I had no idea what happened...I was sore..tired..and utterly confused. My friend who's floor I slept on was still asleep. I left to go to nearest tube...he chased me the whole way repeating 'it's just sex..what's your deal, what's wrong with ya?' I now can't even listen to Australian accents...I never said a word. I got on the tube his voice ringing in my ear.. I went to my nearest friend who was In Oxford. I got bed in a hostel until I could gather my mind. I had interviews at MTV and TV channels all set up.. I didn't want to return to scotland. I had bruising on my neck..arms, absolutely brutal cystitis..i was torn up 'down there'. What did I do? I disassociated. I did not know what the hell I had done all that night. I could not figure it out. One year later my friend got married. That beast was there, I froze in fear. Infront of everyone in hotel breakfast he shouts 'Why you ignoring me..i fucked ya' what did I do? I just didn't respond..I was frozen....he had terrified me in such a deep way...I froze..am sorry...thats what happened. TWENTY years later. I am a mother, lost a child, my own mother died, covid hit..my marriage failed..moved country..son struggling autism, i had a tumour nearly kill me, then my crohns..it was A LOT.. and I ended in therapy It was not until then I could piece anything together. 1- I openly disliked this man, people knew I avoided him ad was afraid of him..I would NEVER have consented ever, even drunk...and...as I mentioned i can't drink, Id throw up. Only one answer, he drugged me. On top of SA..he could have killed me, with crohns you don't know what your absorption is doing, so dangerous...I as able to sit and piece it together when I could face it...and it took 20 years... so I don't judge anyone who 'took 20 years' to report.

“She has lied and people have died.” Moments ago at Queen’s Park: NDP MPP Robin Lennox is kicked out of the chambers for calling Health Minister Sylvia Jones a liar, following revelations that Ontario refused to fund Sabrina Apitz-Grossman’s cancer treatment despite its own health agency’s recommendation.

One of the most fascinating things about human learning is how we can learn certain lessons ONCE and remember them for the rest of our lives. I will NEVER eat canned tuna again. Why? Because over a year ago, I experienced half a day of projectile vomiting after eating it. One experience. One lesson. Permanently etched into my brain. You probably know someone who won’t touch tequila because of one disastrous night. Or someone who became violently ill after eating seafood and hasn’t gone near it in decades. Psychologists call this conditioned taste aversion. It’s an extraordinary form of learning that can occur after a SINGLE experience, even when hours separate ingestion from illness. From an evolutionary perspective, it makes perfect sense. Eat something. Get sick. Remember it. Avoid it. Survive. Now think about COVID. You can enter a room, inhale infectious aerosols, become infected, and have absolutely no sensory warning. No rotten smell. No foul taste. No immediate indication that anything is wrong. Symptoms may not appear for days. Some infections produce no noticeable symptoms at all. And longer-term consequences can be even harder to connect to the original exposure. Our brains are remarkably good at learning from certain sensory experiences. They’re much less reliable at recognizing invisible, delayed threats. And that’s what fascinates me. If COVID smelled like rotten eggs or seafood, I suspect our collective behavior around indoor air would look VERY different. People would open windows. Demand better ventilation. Wear respirators. Leave rooms. Instead, we repeatedly expose ourselves to a virus we cannot smell, taste, or see. And the cruelest irony of all… COVID doesn’t have a smell. But it can take away yours. I learned to avoid canned tuna after ONE afternoon. Imagine how differently we’d treat the air we share if our brains received the same unmistakable warning.

PMC COVlD Update (U.S.) Nov 2, 2026 Transmission typically falls in October, but not this year. We're seeing the highest levels for this time of year relative to any prior year since pandemic onset. Let that sink in. Presently, 47 states and territories have known outbreaks. The PMC model estimates that >1 million Americans are getting infected each day, meeting our criteria for characterizing transmission as a "surge." We estimate that 1 in 43 Americans are actively infectious, varing considerably be region. Watch the video to learn why I am especially concerned. Find more data and our weekly report: PMC19.com Check out our interactive map: PMC19.com/map Also, we just added a new feature. You can enter a custom URL to zoom in on your region. For me, it is PMC19.com/70118 Just replace the numbers with your own zip code. Please drop any questions in the comments!

Over the last 6 months I've noticed more of my clients disclosing to me how many covid infections they have had, & the extent of their demise in health after each infection. They describe negative physical & mental health consequences that have, for many, been life changing...

🚨❓Question @topublichealth When is it 'inappropriate' to wear a mask indoors?😷🙃🙄 We don't say: Wash your hands when appropriate Stop using this cop-out language when it comes to masking & just tell people to wear them please? Stop giving people an excuse not to mask.

First, correct your spelling: it's Semmelweis. And I rather admire Ignaz Semmelweis. Do you know why? Because he had data, not merely a grievance against medical authority. He demonstrated dramatic reductions in maternal mortality when physicians washed their hands. His critics clung to established beliefs despite evidence. They loved anecdotes, like you seem to. Bring me data that challenges established medicine, and I'll listen. I've challenged conventional thinking myself, published research, and defended conclusions with evidence. There's nothing wrong with standing alone in science. I've done it. But here's what people invoking Semmelweis so often misunderstand: He wasn't right, because he stood alone. He stood alone because he was right with the data to demonstrate it. You haven't presented data. You've presented an analogy and an insult. And that makes you the anti-Semmelweis.
