Here is some updated information on Kalie McCrystal: The family is asking anyone who contacted or attempted to contact Kalie during the time period of 15:45 CET Tuesday and 9:26 CET Wednesday to come forward even if you did not get a response. Pings and digital artifacts can still be used to help narrow Kalie’s location. For this purpose anyone can reach out to me on X In the comments or DMs or email me at [email protected] Kalie was out on Tuesday doing a reconnaissance mission on the Lions Ridge, which is essentially the west ridge, and is considered the record for the Italian side. Kalie does not already have a record on that ridge. She was hoping to attempt to beat the standing record which was set by American Karina Andersen this year (who beat another record set earlier in the summer). Kalie did establish a speed record on the matterhorn earlier this summer on the Hornli Ridge, which is the Northeast Ridge and is in Switzerland and the most prestigious ridge. The search has NOT been suspended. Helicopters were temporarily grounded for some nighttime conditions but the search for Kalie remains ongoing. Right now, the Italians are in charge of the efforts. The Lion’s Ridge, which is the route she was taking, is on the Swiss-Italian Border. The South side of the ridge (and south face) is on the Italian Side and the West side of the ridge (and West face) are on the Swiss side of the mountain. The Italians have been granted permission by the Swiss to fly on the west face of the mountain (which is in Switzerland). Please keep praying for Kalie.

At Blueridge, students and staff learned about and remembered the missing Indigenous women, girls and two-spirit people through books, conversation and art. @NVSD44 #reddressday

There’s a tendency to look at challenges facing universities in isolation — funding, enrolment, infrastructure. Our latest report with Canadian Association of University Business Officers (CAUBO) looks at something we don’t always talk about: the financial model behind Canada’s universities. Institutions are adapting, but often through short-term measures, deferrals, freezes and trade-offs that can affect long-term capacity. At the same time, Canada is heading into a period of higher demand for talent and education. That tension is at the core of this report: univcan.ca/publication/build…

The cap was emergency surgery. Now recovery must begin. That means faster visas, region-specific policies and rebuilding Canada’s reputation. If government, universities and business act together, we’ll secure the talent to power our economy. That’s why we’re urging a federal ministerial roundtable to deliver real solutions.
Replying to @gabrielbmiller
@gabrielbmiller is right: surgery alone doesn’t heal the patient. Canada now needs recovery — a ministerial roundtable to bring government, universities and business together on policies that will secure the workforce our economy depends on. That means more efficient visa processing times, policies that reflect regional realities and rebuilding Canada’s reputation to attract and retain the talent it needs.

#SkyTrain to #UBC must be Metro Vancouver's next public transit priority. Like a regional Town Centre, UBC is an economic and transit ridership powerhouse. Delaying it only adds to the costs of an inevitable project. #TransLink #bcpoli #vanpoli #vanre dailyhive.com/vancouver/ubc-…

These are a group of the smartest young innovators, inventors, and thinkers in the world, and they’re not letting them go to Harvard? OK then. We’ll take ‘em. We have great U’s here too. History’s biggest brain drain can become Canada’s gain! nytimes.com/2025/05/22/us/po…
