One of my clients is almost 70 years old and is doing her first HYROX.
It's easy to gloss over these things. But competing in HYROX at this age is impressive and demonstrates a substantial amount of fitness and function.
We should all strive for this kind of longevity 💪
How you show up for one thing is NOT how you show up for everything.
Runners can be process-oriented, methodical, and precise with every workout. This is a good thing!
But easy runs can be more subjective, flexible, and accommodating.
Running is beautiful because of this.

This is wrong on so many levels.
1. Research shows that running is likely protective to your knees, and at worst, doesn't harm.
2. Your ancestors jogged. They walked lots, jogged, steady, ran hard, sprinted...all in hunts.
3. This guys sprint is slower than a jog.
You jog 4 miles every morning and your waistline hasn't improved at all. You've destroyed your knees for nothing.
Of all the ways to exercise, the light jog is one of the worst. Your ancestors walked most of the day and ran all out when they had to go after prey, or run away from a threat, or toward a child in danger. They didn't jog.
Walk. Sprint. Skip the middle.
A new coaching client told me: "The more I run, the more I find my gains come from insight into the sport, its tactics, rather than from increasing fitness alone."
Wise words!
I like to say, "Knowledge is a competitive advantage"

Clearly, this is all due to @ChrisMcClung. Thanks man!
If you have running goals, getting your capacity up is the quickest way to improve.
Capacity = how much training you can handle.
Higher capacity = more mileage, cross-training, regular workouts, consistent strength training, strides, and all the “extras.”

You’ll learn about Zone 2, walking, rucking, whether World Marathon Major races are the ideal environment for PR’s, and more.
