6 years after submitting the manuscript to the publisher and then going away, I was finally able to sit down to turn the pages of the book that allows me to claim the label author. Profound love and gratitude to @LinksGems and all those whose collaboration made this possible.
I’m fortunate to have a lengthy backlog of killer homecoming golf invites awaiting an expansion to my liberty. I must admit though that if the rest of my golfing life consists solely of loops around @canalshores with my sons and friends, I’ll die a happy man. #geekedongolf
Sunrise shinrin-yoku (forest bathing) along the nature trail at @CanalShores Shores refreshes and energizes me. There is an extra dimension of biophilic connection from time spent in a natural space embedded in an urban environment. The contrast is delightful and intriguing.
Made my maiden voyage around the hiking trail embedded into The Evans at @CanalShores, including encounters with critters, pets, and humans, as well as commuter fly-bys on the El. I’m blown away by what a group of committed volunteers accomplished in this special place.
Synchronicity led me to put my golf coaching hat back on. Sylvie was inspired by an interview with Sir Nick on her podcast to learn. She reached out the same week I heard about the Op36 paradigm on The Bag Drop. We gave it a try and had a blast. Her joy elevated mine. Brilliant.

Over the bridges and through the tunnel we go to golfing nirvana we go @canalshores. Many thanks and much love to OG Lumberjack Patrick for joining us and snapping pics. #communitygolf #geekedongolf
Took in the peace and equinox sunrise while cutting cups on my last day of greenkeeping. The time has come to forge ahead with courage, confidence, and conviction into the next phase. Stay tuned…
Onward.
The creation story with a reflection on its impact is now up on From the Rough to the Core: jasonway.substack.com/p/my-s…
I make a point of taking in what remains of the features created by Langford & Moreau at Bryn Mawr, like this feeder shoulder on the par-3 10th. I imagine an exchange:
Moreau: “Might have gone overboard on this one, Bill.”
Langford: “It’s outrageous, Ted. I love it.”
Of all the miles I’ve logged, some stand out as particularly memorable. The three I ran with Lisa Guengerich Way this week, my first time out in nearly a year and first time with her in six years, fit that bill. Not a long way, but far enough to prove that I am still a runner.
The experience moved me to update an essay I wrote a while back (link -> jasonway.substack.com/p/stil…)
Leaves drift down as we knock out the post-Labor Day verticut. Fall golf is upon us. Best time of the year. #greenhorngreenkeeper #geekedongolf
Steamy September morning at The Mawr. Fortunately for our players, sweat is our specialty. #greenhorngreenkeeper #geekedongolf
Enjoyed the recent conversation with Tom, @AndyTFE. Love that you two continue to chop it up. His reflections on his early courses were particularly interesting. I got to see Black Forest and Apache Stronghold before they went under.
Apache Stronghold had a wonderful routing up and down hillsides and through the desert canyon. It combined thrilling shots and quiet moments. Fit the landscape perfectly.
Although both courses were in serious disrepair by the time of my visits, there was still brilliance evident in the designs and shaping. It’s not an overstatement to say that in another place and time, those two courses would be list toppers.
Continuing my weekly practice of playing @canalshores tour guide for first-timer buddies. Watching them light up as they connect with their golfing joy warms the cockles of my geeky heart. #communitygolf #geekedongolf
