Another mentor pod session for our Founder University Japan cohort last Friday, three sharp perspectives across fundraising, product, and building.
@JasonYoong: founder who's raised an $8M seed round, with a background at Amazon, Dentsu, and IPG. He covered how to sharpen fundraising decks and investor messaging, plus sales and BD positioning.
Another great mentorship session last Friday with plenty of practical takeaways for our @FounderUniversity Japan cohort.
@JasonYoong: founder who's raised an $8M seed round and spent years at Amazon, Dentsu, and IPG before going out on his own. He unpacked how to build a fundraising deck that actually lands with investors, and how to sharpen a sales pitch so it closes.

Norway's "Viking Row" is the best World Cup celebration. It has all the ingredients:
1/ Distinct and unique to their heritage
2/ Fun and simple (anyone can do it anywhere — I've seen videos of fans rowing on escalators!)
3/ Fans row during a match and everyone (including the players) know it — it raises the HEAT
4/ Everyone is invited to join in and add to the row
5/ At the end of games, the Norway players row with the fans, they even bring out their own drum (this is special)

The New Titans of Media
Everyone is talking about tech podcasts.
Everyone is talking about how creators presently own one of the greatest assets: Direct media distribution.
Look at @tbpn - they just sold for $100M+ (launching just over a year ago)
But who are all these creators and where to find them?
A few months ago, I published this piece around where we are heading, why creators are the new media and who they all are.
If you don't have distribution in the next 12-24 months, you will fall behind. Watch this space!

I admire both guts and action: Nishant Jain (Apple Eng Leader) shocked me. He hosted a meet-up in the South Bay, then stole the microphone during "my" presentation and launched into an improv standup comedy routine.

Get a chance to practice showing Executive Presence in a high stakes company meeting - I've built a practical training system.
I've set up simulated staff meetings where students can take on the roles of the engineering manager, the PM, or some other leader and work on their executive presence while I play different types of difficult bosses - the demanding critic, the indecisive, non-technical executive, etc.
