Yes, flooding is expensive, but flooding wipes out equity in American's biggest investment - their homes.
Flooding is the biggest problem America faces that has virtually no local, state, or federal structure to methodically deal with it.
It's crazy how low the percentage of households that carry insurance are in places like the Panhandle. Much of that is that the FEMA maps are are wrong or incomplete and people don't even know they are in harm's way.
Stories like this are so prevalent in places like Escambia County Florida. It starts with making a flooding a priority at the city and county government levels.
Amazing leadership by Florida's Speaker of the House Chris Sprowls. Florida will be one of the first states in the nation to have a firm grip on the size of their flood problem and the solutions needed.
