Kenya is sleepwalking to a catastrophic rigging of the August 2027 General Election, driven by an Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) that acts as an unaccountable rogue procurement cartel, and a Parliament betraying the public trust bestowed upon them by the People of Kenya due to narrow executive subservience for the benefit of President William Ruto. Should we get anything short of these proposed amendments as highlighted above and attached to this statement over the next 288 days, Kenyans should be alive to the painful truth, that President Ruto with the AID of Parliament, with the ACQUISCENCE of the IEBC is planning to rig the 2027 General Elections, BUT they MUST be stopped. We cannot wait; we should not wait for him to rig. Anything that we must do now to stop him from rigging, we must start doing. That is why we shall do the following in the interim:- ❖Introduce the amendment bill that is attached to this statement in both the Senate and the National Assembly. ❖Convene a multi-stakeholder conference in the next fortnight to sensitize them on the need and import for these proposed amendments and other urgent Electoral reforms. ❖Conduct civic education and Citizen Mobilization across the Country effective immediately on the import of this amendment. ❖Conduct civic education and Citizen mobilization on the other five demands of the People’s Coalition on Electoral Reforms including: a) NO National Tallying Centre for Presidential results b) Integrity of the Register of Voters c) Election Technology that meets the Constitutional test d) Amendment of the Elections Offences Act to hold elections officials personally liable for offences e) Transparent Recruitment of Elections officials in a manner that meets the Constitutional test.
