Live commerce is one of the most engaged shopping channels right now. Now @Shopify merchants can tap into it through @Whatnot.
Products, inventory, and orders all managed from Shopify.
More surfaces to sell on. Same admin to run it from.
Whatnot, the livestream shopping app, now integrates directly with Shopify, opening the door for millions of merchants to sell on its platform. buff.ly/7iDmTKI

POV: First week on Shopify after leaving your legacy platform.

I shared this April 7th, over a year ago. It's made a tremendous difference inside of Shopify since then. Easy to see the AI pickup on any chart. And I think you can see the effects of a highly AI embracing workforce in Shopify's product, pace, and execution. Everyone has agents as exo skeletons for their own creativity now and knows how to use them. Saying the thing matters. And anyway, this note seemed mildly controversial a year ago and seems obvious in retrospect. Always the best sign that you got something right and early.

The Milk Mob turned out in full force this weekend at Shopify NY! 🍓💪
Proud to support creator-businesses with memorable commerce experiences for their fans. Strawberry Milk Mob = inspiring entrepreneurs (🇨🇦 too)!

.@LukaDoncic just launched 77x on @Shopify, debuting it with a massive pop-up at @NBA All-Star Weekend.
We built the Court to Cart Challenge: make a trick shot, win a product.
🏀 Fans scanned a mobile Fan Pass to start the experience
🏀 Each hoop unlocked a different product
🏀 Make the shot, and the prize synced instantly to their pass
🏀 Staff scanned the pass using a custom Shopify POS extension
Dream up a world-class experience one week. And ship it the next.

When I met Shopify CEO Tobi Lutke a year ago, he told me to seek experiences that maximize growth
I took that advice to heart
I'll be in Cambridge from January 2 - 6 teaching an AI agents course at MIT EECS at 17 years old
Lmk if you're around, would love to meet new people!

Sidekick has 20+ new capabilities in this Edition. My favorite: it can create custom apps.
Just prompt Sidekick, and it writes the app code using Polaris UI with Admin API GraphQL queries and mutations.

A “third culture kid” is someone born into one culture and raised in another. They’re often multilingual and chameleonic, adopting behaviors across cultures.
Shopify feels like a “third culture company.”
It’s an iconic tech company yet an outsider to Silicon Valley. It has the scale of a behemoth and the speed of a startup. It combines German bluntness with Canadian niceness and big beautiful American ambition.
It even combines things that seem like contradictions: high intensity with goofy fun, mastery with experimental hacking, optimistic idealism with highly efficient capitalism.
I see this delightful third culture in employees, from interns to officers, to @tobi and @harleyf and my colleagues on the board.
Shopify’s culture is so distinct because Tobi built it the way he built Shopify: when what already exists isn’t quite right, make your own!
The DRI hat: perfect for when you want the sun off your face but the pressure squarely on your shoulders 🧢

This might be my new favorite episode of Aspire
Entrepreneurship comes with a lot of uncertainty. And for many founders, a lot of anxiety.
Rituals help balance that for me. Eight minutes of breath work every morning. And on Friday nights, Shabbat dinner with my family. No matter what the week looked like, we slow down, reflect, and reset.
As we head into the weekend, I’ll share what I say every Friday:
I hope you had a great week. I hope you have a great weekend. Shabbat Shalom.

$6.2 billion on Black Friday, up 25% from last year (22% on a constant currency basis). A new record for @Shopify merchants.
Peak: $5.1 million in sales per minute at 12:01 PM EST.
Black Friday isn’t local anymore. It’s global. And it belongs to the entrepreneurs building on Shopify.

Cheers were heard around the office. A new level of engineering excellence.
Peak sales hit $5.1 (!) million per minute right around noon today across the Shopify platform.
