#LGBTQ History 1. Today, Jan. 20th, is the feast day for Saint Sebastian, patron saint of soldiers, archers, athletes, and adopted saint of gays. His image portrays what gay writer Thomas Mann called, in his 1929 Nobel Prize acceptance speech, as “grace in suffering.”
This year #MartinLutherKingJrDay is also the feast of Sebastian, patron saint of gay men. Sebastian is an early Christian martyr usually shown as a near-naked young man. Many #gay men identify with his experience of grace within suffering. #FaithfullyLGBT
