Before this year, only 5 players with 8+ gold gloves and 393+ HR (Edmonds' numbers) have gone thru HOF voting...4 are in, Bonds is the other

Despite the early returns, it is too early to give up on Jim Edmonds. Last year Nomar was only on 2.4% of public ballots, and ended at 5.5%.

I mean, throw out all the advanced analytics he does well in. That a CF with 393 HRs and 8 Gold Gloves getting one-and-outed.

A Tale of Two CFs: One of these is a HoF that nobody today questions. The other is about to get Whitakered.

Like,
McGriff: .284/.377/.509 (134 wRC+) at first base, 56.9 WAR
Edmonds: .284/.376/.527 (132 wRC+) w/ great CF defense, 64.5 WAR

The strangest and most insignificant gripe, I know, but if McGriff has 24 public votes & Sheffield 11, shouldn't Edmonds have more than 3?

Kirby Puckett was a 1st-ballot HOFer. Jim Edmonds won't be. But his numbers were better in: OPS, WAR, OPS+, WAR7, JAWS, Jpos.

BBWAA did the ballot right, but it is bizarre that Eckstein gets a paragraph in the release and Edmonds doesn't. bbwaa.com/

Edmonds had a better OB%, Slugging%, OPS, OPS+, WAR, Fielding%, Assists than Andre Dawson who is in the Hall of Fame xitter.cf/JimEdmondsHOF/status/6…
