I know this a ridiculous aspiration at only 6 months of existence as a church plant, but I want to build a beautiful church building here in Waxahachie that looks unmistakably like a church. Something like what The Paradox Church in Fort Worth has done. Beauty. Meaning. Truth. Let’s make beautiful things again!

One guy is a bad guy. The other guy went to seminary, preached at his church on Easter, and is constantly presenting himself as a Christian and theologian in every interview. It's a pastor's job to call out False Teachers; not to call out every bad guy.

If you don't stand for anything, why stand at all?
In 1967, the United Methodist Church had about 11M members. In 2004, they had about 8.1M members. In 2024, the United Methodists have dropped below 4M members. They have lost half their membership in the last two decades.

Nice work, team. Keep it up.
"No group of Americans seems to be having more sex—and more satisfying sex—than married men & women who regularly attend a place of worship. In fact, we find the only Americans who have avoided the country’s “sex recession” are husbands & wives who attend religious services at least twice a month." ~ my latest @TheAtlantic w/ @grantjbailey

"The idea that the Kingdom of Christ requires formal dependence on, and enactment through, the state insults the efficacy of the blood of Christ."
Michael Scott thought he could declare bankruptcy by yelling it across the office. A lot of the Christian nationalism conversation works the same way: Say it loud enough, post about it often enough, and surely it becomes real. It doesn't. I explain why the Christian nationalism conversation has run its course in my latest @WNGdotorg column. wng.org/opinions/michael-sco…

What’s one or two things you’ve learned about organizational leadership that’s been most helpful specifically as size and complexity increase? Or maybe what are some pitfalls to avoid? What are the best books and resources?

There's a difference between the purpose of the church and the purpose of the church's gatherings. The church's purpose is missional. The whole church taking the whole gospel to the whole world. The church's gathering is doxological. To worship and enjoy God.

These kind of debates are interesting. Some things to consider: 1. There is no moral/spiritual value to the size of a church. 2. The different expressions/sizes of churches in a city are a good thing. 3. Planting a church has never helped a healthy/growing church get smaller.
FIRM CONVICTION: Churches should only be planted in order to reach new people who don't know Christ, not to rearrange existing Christians into smaller groupings.

Agree completely. Would also add "walk in the sun everyday".
Before a man goes on TRT, here are seven things I think he should make a part of his life: 1. consistently get a minimum of seven hours of sleep 2. vitamin D supplementation 3. eat .8-.9 grams of protein per pound of your ideal bodyweight 4. 3x/wk heavy weight training, 2x/wk zone 2 cardio for 30+ minutes (the older you get the more zone 2 you need) 5. process and manage stress with a healthy friend network 6. limit alcohol to moderate use at 1x per week 7. get body fat between 10 and 20%

Had dinner with his agent last year under the stands at Dodger Stadium for Kershaw's 3000k. Everyone kept congratulating him, "Happy, Bobby Bonilla Day!" I wonder if he gets his 10% every year, too. Crazy deal.
Happy Bobby Bonilla Deferral Day: Bonilla is set to collect another $1.193 million from the New York Mets today, as he will each July 1st through the year 2035.
