'This iconic 1968 photo depicts then-Lieutenant Colonel William "Wild Bill" Weise (who later achieved the rank of Brigadier General), commander of the 2nd Battalion, 4th Marines (known as "The Magnificent Bastards") during the Vietnam War. He is shown lying on a stretcher, calmly smoking a cigar while holding up his own IV drip bottle after being seriously wounded during the fierce Battle of Dai Do in May 1968. His battalion suffered heavy casualties but successfully turned back a much larger North Vietnamese Army force heading toward the major combat base at Đông Hà. Under his command during this battle, two of his company commanders-James E. Livingston and M. Sando Vargas-earned the Medal of Honor."
Photo taken by unknown USMC photographer. Most likely taken between 01-03 May 1968.

I have undertaken this project to put a face to 9/11 by posting a photo of everyone killed that day. If after everything that happened you can vote for the ideology that brought it about it's as if you are killing them yourself! Pictured below was 34 year old Darren Bohan who was a temporary worker at the Aon Corporation in the South Tower. They believe he might have been able to make it down to the lobby when the building crashed down and it was said that he did not care for working so high up in the building or in a building that had already suffered a disaster but that he did enjoy the view. He loved playing music and he hoped to eventually be able to become a music teacher. His remains were discovered the following year and he was survived by his parents and his girlfriend of 7 months. To forget even a single one of these people is a blasphemy!

Throughout my career, I’ve developed the deepest respect for America’s firefighters.
I’ve witnessed extraordinary heroism, everyday kindness, and remarkable courage. Men and women who run into burning buildings, risking their own lives to save others.
Here is another powerful example of that courage in action.
May we honor our firefighters and all our first responders.
And may we never forget that the true strength of our nation is not found in its highest offices, but in the everyday heroes in our communities who step up, serve others, and save lives.

Rest in Paradise, Toya Jones ❤️
It is with a heavy heart and great sadness that I share the news of the passing of Toya Jones, a proud member of the Refugio High School Class of 1995.
Some people come into this world with a special gift, and Toya was one of those people. He was an incredible athlete, a fierce competitor, and, without a doubt, one of the greatest athletes to ever wear the colors of Refugio High School. When Toya stepped onto the track or the field, you knew you were about to witness something special. He had a God-given talent that was truly amazing to watch.
I will never forget the excitement of getting in the car and making that drive to Austin to watch Toya compete at the state track meet. There was something special about knowing you were going to watch someone you knew accomplish extraordinary things. And Toya never disappointed. Thirteen gold medals at the state track meets! Just think about that. What an incredible accomplishment. I remember watching him compete and thinking how fortunate I was to witness such greatness firsthand. Those are memories I will always carry with me.
When Toya graduated from Refugio, his journey continued to Texas A&M University, where he signed to play football and run track. I would look forward to Saturdays, watching the Aggies play and hoping to catch a glimpse of Toya on that field. Every time I saw him out there, I felt that hometown pride. That was our Toya—a Refugio athlete who had made it to the next level and given us another reason to cheer.
It’s hard to put into words what it feels like to hear that someone you remember being so full of life, strength, and promise is gone. Somehow, it just doesn’t seem right. Superheroes aren’t supposed to pass away. And to those of us who watched Toya run, compete, and accomplish things most could only dream of, he truly seemed like a superhero.
Today, my heart goes out to Toya’s family, friends, former teammates, classmates, and everyone who loved him. I pray that God wraps His loving arms around each of you and gives you comfort and strength during this difficult time.
Toya, thank you for the memories. Thank you for the excitement of those trips to Austin, the Saturday afternoons watching the Aggies, and the pride you brought to Refugio. Thank you for reminding us what determination, talent, and a competitive spirit look like. You may be gone from this earth, but the memories of watching you do what you did best will stay with me forever.
I can only imagine the race waiting for you in Heaven. No pain, no struggles, just a golden track and a finish line that never comes too soon.
Rest in Paradise, Toya. Until we meet again, I’ll be looking forward to watching you run one more time on that golden track.
You were one of a kind, and you will never be forgotten. ❤️🙏🏽

Jono Lancaster was born in England with Treacher Collins syndrome, a rare genetic condition that affects how the bones in the face develop.
He has no cheekbones, and his eyes and ears look different from most people's.
Jono says his birth parents couldn't cope with his appearance.
Just 36 hours after he was born, they left him at the hospital.
But someone did want him.
A social worker named Jean took him in when he was just two weeks old. She raised him, loved him, and later adopted him.
Growing up wasn't easy. Kids at school stared, mocked him, and made up chants about his face. For years, he admitted, he hated the way he looked.
As an adult, Jono reached out to his birth parents. He wrote them a letter to let them know he was doing well.
They wrote back. They said they wanted no contact, and that any future attempts would be ignored.
It could have broken him. Instead, Jono chose to turn his pain into purpose.
He started speaking at schools, and something changed when children came up to him afterward. Some told him they were bullied too. Some said they didn't know their parents either.
Today, Jono runs a charity called Love Me Love My Face, supporting children and families living with facial differences. He travels to meet kids with conditions like his, showing them that they can live full, happy lives.
He even says he's grateful to his birth parents for one thing: bringing him into the world.
The face they turned away from is now giving hope to children everywhere 💛
Respect to you mate x
