We are stunned and heartbroken to announce the sudden and tragic passing of midfielder Ezekiel Williams yesterday afternoon aged 26.
A humble, unassuming and generous individual with a razor-sharp wit, Eze joined the club in September and quickly established himself as a highly popular member of the dressing room and was beginning to carve a place for himself in midfield with a series of hard-working and selfless displays that summed him up as a person. Only 10 days ago, he scored his first goal for the club against Jersey Bulls.
As a sign of respect, and to allow the players and management time to process this profoundly shocking news, tomorrow’s London Senior Cup tie with Woodford Town has been postponed.
There has been a gofundme page set up in Ezekiel’s memory for anyone who would like to support and donate.

Our thoughts and prayers are with Ezekiel’s family, friends, and everyone who knew him at this devastating time. He will be very sadly missed by all of us at Hendon Football Club.
RIP Eze 💚🤍

🩵 In Memory of Rachael Harvey-Purkiss 🩵
Everyone at Springfield FC is deeply saddened to hear the tragic news of the passing of Rachael Harvey-Purkiss.
Rachael was a familiar face throughout the Essex women’s football community and someone whose love for the game saw her play across 11-a-side, vets, walking and recreational football.
She was also part of our own Springfield football family. Rachael wore the Springfield shirt on many occasions in recreational and vets football and joined us for the Seniors section of our annual tournament.
Since hearing the news, people who shared a pitch with Rachael have spoken about not only the footballer she was, but the person too — welcoming, kind and always encouraging others to keep playing and enjoying the game.
The Essex football community is a close one. So many will have played alongside Rachael, played against her, coached her or simply got to know her through a shared love of football.
Our thoughts and deepest condolences are with Rachael’s family, friends, teammates and everyone who knew and loved her.
Springfield FC Women will observe a minute’s silence before Sunday’s match as a mark of respect.
Rest in peace, Rachael. 🩵⚽️
Once Springfield, always Springfield.

Last thing I expected to see this morning was Trossard getting laid out by a goalkeeper 😳
Readers added context they thought people might want to know
The video shows a brawl from the April 26 2026 La Liga 2 match between Huesca and Real Zaragoza, where keeper Esteban Andrada punched Huesca's Jorge Pulido, not Trossard.
