There are way too many people discussing movie characters as if they’re real people and not subject to the whims of scriptwriters. I came to the realization that “fiction is retarded for making real life observations because the author controls the outcome.” when I was 12. “Anakin loved his wife and mother and….” No he didn’t. He is an imaginary character. “Omg Atticus finch was so brave for defending that black man from the evil Whites.” No, TKAM was a total fabrication. When you are consuming fiction you are consuming an advertisement; the author/director/artist/creator is selling you, consciously or unconsciously, how they THINK the world works and how it OUGHT to be. Unfortunately for us, our subconscious minds are unable to differentiate fact from fiction. We experience real, physiological responses to fictional stimuli. We watch scary movies and our heart rates rise, we tense our muscles, we enter fight or flight. We watch romances and feel real love when characters embrace and real disgust at a characters betrayal. We watch master and commander and feel the camaraderie when they sing chanteys and the superstition in the doldrums and the relief when the rain finally comes to quench our thirst. We even remember our “lived experience” after the fact. When we hear the creak in the floorboard our subconscious leaps into action and tells us “that’s a demon” even though our conscious mind knows it’s just the cat. The only useful examination of fiction is to examine “what is the author selling me” and “what is the author representing with his characters” In the case of Anakin/Star Wars, we are being told “White men (Anakin, palpatine) are evil, unless the serve the multiracial collective (Jedi, the republic) then they are good.” The need for right wingers to “rehabilitate” Anakin is because they identify with him and feel guilty for identifying with “evil,” so they have to make Anakin “good, actually” to ameliorate their guilt. Harry Potter is also a popular topic of discussion right now, and it’s really quite frustrating how no one is recognizing it for the allegory of “White supremacy” that it is. The “pure bloods” (White people) are “evil” for wanting to maintain their own culture, race, and status. They’re highly inbred, a common antiwhite trope, and they seek to oppress muggles and magical creatures (nonwhites). The only good White people are the White people who race mix (half-bloods) or who side with the multiracial coalition (Weasleys). “Rowling should’ve written in a redemption arc for slytherin!” Well that would’ve ruined the whole purpose of her series, which is to demonize the White race, wouldn’t it? Of course the most evil Wizards of all time, Grindelwald and Voldemort, are handsome, charming, brilliant White men; dumbledore gets to be “good” because he’s a fag and sides with the multiracial coalition, and even then he’s still raked over the coals at the end.
