Texans, don’t let @elonmusk and the Silicon bros (who arrived 5 min ago in Cowboy Hats and boots) divide you. As a Longhorn 🤘🏽I’ll say plainly what @McConaughey didn’t, VOTE BLUE. The only way to become “Independent” is to swing the pendulum back to when Ann Richard’s was Gov. @jamestalarico @GinaHinojosaTX Let’s Go Texas!!

He was born and raised here and went to my alama mater 🤘🏽…on his worst day @jamestalarico is more Texan than you’ll ever be. You’ll find out quickly apartheid tactics don’t go over well with real Texans.

You could bookend the last 50 years of American movies with Albert Brooks “Real Life” and Lance Oppenheim and Nathan Fielder’s “You Can See Everything”. Two of the best movies I’ve ever seen.

A few feet away during this Q&A and I remember thinking Nolan was tweaking comparing Nathan to Lynch…oh how wrong I was…and now they’re both the front runners for best picture and director. 🫡
Really enjoyed You Can See Everything. Might be most meta documentary ever. No spoilers but will say this interview Christopher Nolan did with Nathan Fielder about his show “The Curse” — explaining his creative process — really comes through in Holmes film: ▫️setting the tone is his top priority, even moreso than narrative (“when you have the tone right, everything falls into place”) ▫️Fielder says he “stumbles into ideas he gets excited about” without a master plan and “just piles things on and it grows” (for the Holmes doc, he had an agreement with A24 to scrap the project even after years of shooting if he didn’t think there was a film) ▫️the musical score is crucial in setting the tone (the sound doesn’t even have to match action on the scene, it can float above just setting mood) ▫️he doesn’t want to rush scenes; let them develop to the point where audience is expecting any action to be consequential and it builds the tension (inspired by old detective TV show Columbo) *** Full interview here (Nolan really is a Fielder Stan): youtu.be/etoG2I6gaHE?si=SPNz…

Halfway through YCSE Elizabeth’s Dad basically gives the plainest and most succinct answer to the whole film but then he quickly clams up the rest of the film because of how mad Billy gets.
Replying to @nyafilmguy
I totally agree, I think that moment holds the key to the entire movie actually. The Dad was never as open again after that when he noticed how mad it made Billy.

You Can See Everything feels like a seminal moment in documentary film, easily one of the best theater experiences I’ve had in years. Compelling, sad, funny, meta and no easy answers…it’s everything any film, regardless of genre, hopes to be and more.

Is it time to nationalize Starlink? No CEO should have the power to make strategic wartime decisions like this that could cost our allies their lives. No matter how many hundreds of millions he donated to the President.
Unconscionable if true. Need confirmation, as this would mean Musk essentially was directly responsible for deaths of Ukrainians. No laughing matter. Obviously a response from the company is required. Suspicions in Kyiv running high after US threats to withhold intel (which we apparently have not done, it is still flowing). This, though, is a twist. So an investigation is in order, need to get this right. Was starlink purposefully restricted? Was this at the request of the US side? Musk needs to respond to all of this. Congress and the media needs to demand answers. Gang of 8 should request a briefing from CIA and DoD asap.

A phenomenal moment in the Senate. Eric Schmitt, R-Mo., claims he has evidence Jack Smith went to a HAWKS game in Atlanta. Smith denies it. Schmitt declares he has busted Jack Smith for perjury. Smith, vexed, says he went to HAWKEYES game in Maryland. Watch the whole thing:

Cowards, go full mask off and name it Skynet
The Hollywood Reporter suggests ‘Skydance Corporation’ as a possible name for the combined Paramount–Warner Bros. Discovery. It draws a parallel to Gulf + Western, which owned Paramount beginning in the 1960s and renamed itself Paramount Communications in 1989, before being acquired by Viacom.
