"A more fundamental reason why humans accepted cats in their homes is that cats taught humans to love them. This is the true basis of feline domestication." – John Gray, from his book "Feline Philosophy."

The stock market is soaring today because the truth is most business people would rather politicians do nothing and with gridlock guaranteed for the next two years they will get their wish.

The Mississippi Senate race remains too close to call this AM with AP showing Scott Colom with a 43-vote lead over Senator Cindy Hyde-Smith. That’s with 96% of the votes counted.
There will not be a runoff in this race. The one with the most votes wins.

To everybody celebrating Greg Abbott’s defeat, what if I told you there was a way to watch an unlikable old guy lose in Texas almost every Sunday?

You know, if there was a broadcast trade deadline you could send Troy Aikman from ESPN to Prime for Kirk Herbstreit. That's a "good trade for both teams..."
The casual country club antisemites are crawling up out of the muck tonight. It’s a form of “reconnaissance by live fire,”which is a thing.
Sums it up pretty well.
Republicans were handed a trifecta and a mandate in 2024, yet Congress, specifically the Senate, did nothing but undermine President Trump and leave him to govern via temporary executive orders that ended up in protracted legal battles with activist judges that were never held to account.
John Thune allowed over 100 critical House-passed bills to die in the Senate because he refused to nuke the filibuster, something every Democrat has said they’ll do if they take back control.
Republican voters begged for 2 years to get any type of election integrity legislation passed, and John Thune refused.
Chuck Grassley refused to get rid of blue slips to get all of Trump’s judicial nominees confirmed, but had plenty of time to upload videos of himself at Dairy Queen.
Less than 20% of Trump’s EO’s were codified into law.
This was the LEAST productive Congress in history, taking 364 days off.
Why would Republican voters feel inspired to go out and vote for people who literally do nothing with the power given to them?

I know you hate the CFP rankings but listen: There are seven games this weekend matching teams in the committee's top 25.
The good new is by next week almost everything you hate will change _ and you'll have entirely new stuff to hate.

Who is maddest right now about the CFP rankings:
1. Tennessee fans
2. Wake Forest fans
3. Ohio State fans
4. UCLA fans
5. Me, for getting angry despite telling myself not to get angry

I think a comparison of Wisconsin and Florida might explain the rankings a bit.
Notre Dame, UCLA, USC and Iowa would probably be ranked much higher if Wisconsin was respected more. Ole Miss, Mizzou, South Carolina, Texas and UGA would be lower if they respected UF less.

Expanding to 24 teams does not solve the problem of a wildly inconsistent selection committee.

Alabama is ranked ahead of 7 teams with one loss or zero losses. That's wild.

We have seen some terrible CFP rankings over the years, but this set is particularly insane and inconsistent.

Notre Dame is No. 11 in the first ranking. The Irish won’t make the CFP if they don’t beat Miami.
