4.4 and 4.5 looks good in your bio. But a coach can turn on the film and see that you’re not a guy with that type of speed.
That’s really fast at the high school level which should translate into a 10.6 100m dash or better.
Don’t slow your recruitment down because you’re lying about a 40 time.

Note for max testing this summer
Most non-advanced lifters (i.e. 90% of the athletes you work with) will fail a max attempt due to technical breakdown and not actually a lack of strength, especially in the squat
For many, one-rep maxing is not the best way to measure strength
John Vickers retweeted
The longer I do this and the more data I see, the less maximum strength correlates to athletic performance or injury risk at all levels. Industry is way too focused on maximum strength!

Youth S&C coaches - please teach movement before load. We can always train deficiencies and load competency…but loading deficient movement is a) causing injuries b) not setting the young athlete up for success c) demotivating the child when we later “regress” the child #LTAD

Well like I been saying @NFLCombine #40yard dash Timming is not accurate. He did not run 4.21 & break the record. More of a 4.38 for a 40yard dash time. @DerekMHansen @NFL @espn @NFLDraft @bobbystroupe

We would make great strides in the S&C world if coaches would accept the fact that the best way for athletes to train may not be the way the coach grew up training or the way the coach likes to train her/himself. Flexibility in methods and evolution of time highly recommended.

I could care less about 1 Rep Maxes for athletes
I care about relative strength to bodyweight, which is a piece of the athletic development pie, not the whole thing
Maxes are a measurement of progress and that's it. Putting 1RMs on a pedestal is fool's gold

Signs that you’ve stumbled across a speed guru…if seen, turn and sprint in the opposite direction (will be the best speed work you get that day)

A lot of people asking me about kids running track. If the kid likes it, do it…or baseball or tennis..whatever. But better be in the weight room too or they’ll end up under-developed. If don’t like track, run fast in training or 7v7. You’ll gain just as much football speed there

Getting ready for this fall season with @JohnVickersII ! WE ALL IN🔥

Track doesn't make you a better football player.
Being good at football makes you a better football player.
The "guys excelling at football because of track" rhetoric is a lie.
They excel at both because they're good athletes.
Cut it out.
