I’m a big believer in Bible studies. We must master God’s Word and let it master us.
But, I truly believe that many believers have used these Bible studies as a replacement for evangelism and disciple making. Many Christians will spend hours reading the Bible, exegeting it and answering questions in a workbook, but not take minutes to reach those around them for Christ.
Let’s not just EXEGETE God’s Word, let’s EXECUTE God’s mission!
“Do not merely listen to God’s Word, and so deceive yourselves. Do what it says.” James 1:22

I'm sharing these quotes because *I* wasn't clear on how Tim Keller defined "third-wayism."
FWIW, it's fine to critique "third-wayism" (see my forthcoming article).
It's also fine to critique Keller.
But if you're critiquing "Keller's third-wayism," show how he defined it!

Something I've noticed recently is that there are at least three topics where progressive Christians and politicians are lagging far behind secular progressives:
- social media is extremely bad for your mental health
- the therapy-ification of everything is making things substantially worse
- men are experiencing a significant crisis on almost every level

Time off won't heal you when the problem is how you spend your time on. When the way you’re living and leading isn't working, all the time off in the world won’t fix it.
There are a lot of helpful subtweets about how bad this teaching is. But as a preacher I'm also reminded that we need less dichtomies and more nuance in the pulpit. It's hardly either/or and almost always both/and. 1/2 youtu.be/SV9Io7r_hGw?si=z6tn…
I know this is an older tweet from @howertonjosh - but I think this is worth further discussion. There are a few things that I think can be said 🧵
4. The book “The Coddling of the American Mind” is helpful here. One of the fallacies in our culture is “Us vs Them.” It has created a damaging polarization where Newton’s law is over turned. It’s not an equal reaction to the other side; it’s a disproportional reaction.
Seems to me 2 things can be true at once: A Secular atheist can still speak truth, b/c all truth is God’s truth. Also, there can be legitimate concern that Christian nationalism will be construed with the entire American church. Fair? @SkyeJethani @philvischer @kkdumez @drmoore
