I'm telling all athletes....KEEP TAKING CREATINE/START TAKING CREATINE. You NEED it. Put that shit into your body. A good diet and proper sleep are FOUNDATIONS but you're an athlete and that just won't be enough. Take it from someone who has ALL his athletes take it for the better part of 2 decades (NFL All Pros, NFL HOF, NBA Champions, Olympians, World Champions, PGA Golf Champs, NCAA National Champs, NHL athletes, female athletes, endurance athletes, high school athletes, etc...
Iโ€™m telling all athletesโ€ฆSTOP TAKING CREATINE. You donโ€™t need it. Stop putting that nonsense in your body. A good diet and proper sleep are best. Stop letting little Jimmy at the local Planet Fitness tell the top 1% of human bodies what to supplement. Creatine is like filling a balloon with air it looks bigger and better till itโ€™s time to put it under stress. Thatโ€™s why soft tissue injuries happen. Your muscles lack pure substance.
Readers added context they thought people might want to know
Scientific evidence does not support claims that creatine causes soft tissue injuries in athletes. Reviews and studies, including of collegiate football players, show no increased injury risk and often lower rates of strains, cramping and total injuries among users. pmc.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/articles/PMC54โ€ฆ pmc.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/articles/PMC23โ€ฆ

1000% agree with this. Especially true in the coaching and performance industry as you know. A lot of former athletes make horrible coaches and trainers. Theyโ€™re not willing to actually learn the craft side of things.

This is happening in all sports... Theyโ€™ll bring in great former players/fighters who are obviously very knowledgeable about the sport in general, but that doesnโ€™t automatically mean theyโ€™ve been putting in the work to stay sharp on whatโ€™s happening RIGHT nowโ€ฆ Just because you were a great athlete doesnโ€™t mean youโ€™ll do a great job commentating if youโ€™re not actually putting in the work. Itโ€™s a craft, and a lot of former athletes just show up and collect the checkโ€ฆ
Dominick Reyes believes DC relies too heavily on his status as a double champ and doesn't put in the necessary work as a commentator: โ€œPeople think because he's double champ, all these things, that he automatically knows everything about everything. Being a fighter doesn't automatically make you an expert in striking. Doesn't automatically make you an expert in movement. No, you've got to continue to grow and learn and get better. Not just everybody already give you a pass that you know everything about everything. That's not how the world works, man."

The funniest thing about DC's commentary is that he gets really upset when people say he does no prep, but not so upset that he'll familiarize himself with who the fighters on the card are.

The goal of athlete development isnโ€™t to prepare athletes for every possible situation. Thatโ€™s impossible. Our responsibility is to expand their capabilities, experiences, and independence so they can navigate situations neither they nor their coaches have encountered before.
