Tired: The USGA has learned from past missteps & now exhausts all efforts to present hard, equitable tests
Wired: Since 2019 the USGA has timidly genuflected to their critics, now producing less inspired contests that guard against blowback more so than craft memorable events
The most confounding thing to me about the LIV Golf developments is how their overtly vocal supporters are still keeping up the bit. I assumed that the majority of them were just after whatever piece of Saudi riches they could squeak out. Is this denial? Engagement? Stupidity?
Watching THE GOONIES for the first time. Spielberg’s stink is all over this, much like in THE POLTERGEIST.
Leaving Oakmont today, I was chatting with two older guys and said that Sam Burns would be the solo leader by day’s end; they completely dismissed the take. It seems like golf opinions are as valuable to strangers as fantasy football ones: everyone thinks theirs is the best
Holy shit, the STIGMATA opening credits were such a “We have SE7EN at home” situation that I almost did a spit take @CinephobePod

Keep your eye on the donut and not on the hole.
In memory of David Lynch, we will continue to explore the otherworldly and the unknown. We will focus not on the loss, but on what we gained from the years we shared this planet with you. We will see you in our dreams.

ALT Using the Event Horizon Telescope, scientists obtained this image of the black hole at the center of galaxy M87, outlined by emission from hot gas swirling around it under the influence of strong gravity near its event horizon. The hot gas is shaped like a doughnut and is glowing a warm yellow color with reddish tint at its edges. The darkness of space is black in the background. Professional and paternal obligations currently have me juggling two unfinished — for me, at least — films (L’AMOUR FOU and THE COMPANY), but the loss today of David Lynch has me watching INLAND EMPIRE for the first time since (*checks notes*) 2006.
There is an abundance of Altman streaming for free currently (mostly on Tubi), so I put on THE COMPANY. The opening credits certainly hint toward a thesis of the diverging perspectives/interpretations of art from the standpoint of the audience compared to those actively involved
A tradition unlike any other…driving 347-yard holes at the @CHSRoughRiders scramble
What a find! Let’s see what Blockbuster has to say about a certain cinematic classic…
