It may take a long while, but the public is going to come around on transgender participation in sports eventually, and the issue is the last redoubt of a broader campaign against transgender identity that has mostly failed.
Hundreds of thousands of Washingtonians voted for Dems then voted for a trans sports ban.
Having that option on the ballot let voters separate their policy preference from their R/D vote. MGP's opponent ran on his support for the initiative - it passed in her district while she flattened him. opb.org/article/2026/10/21/w…
What do some of Tuesday night’s biggest stars – like El-Sayed, Talarico, Jackson, Poindexter, and Forstag – all have in common?
They’re all union members.
This wave was brought to you by union organizing, union voters, and union candidates. huffpost.com/entry/blue-wave…

This is truly the video of the day to watch. @ChuckHubbardNC is just a dad, a normal guy, who was concerned about his daughter and her rights. So he ran for congress -- knowing he would not win -- and won.

this was the catalyst. when the party bosses scoffed at bernie, he kept pushing. i saw these rallies firsthand. ppl were looking for answers to what had taken place in 24. bernie became the true leader of the party. his impact is felt w his rhetoric echoing through the most moderate campaigns this past year.

If tonight was such a win for moderates, why do all the ‘moderates’ sound like Bernie circa 2016?

Everybody is right in a landslide, so take all takes with a grain of salt etc. But I think U.S. politics are broader and more interesting than they were a decade ago. Leadership in both parties is effectively lame-ducked. We're 20 years late to 2008, but here we are.

The new high water mark for Democrats in national congressional races in the modern era is now D+13. Republicans haven’t managed better than R+6.8. In presidential elections, Republicans have won more than 50% of the vote just once since 1988. This is not a red country.

The 2010 margin was 6.8 points, an election remembered as a generational wipeout. Tonight is expected to almost double that. 2008 was 10.5 and 2006 was 8.0. A thirteen point win would be the biggest congressional margin in fifty years.
