40 years ago yesterday. The greatest moment in baseball history. And the silence of vin scully for more than a minute and a half is true professionalism. Nowadays guys like John smoltz can’t shut up for 1 second during a broadcast but that dude knew when to just let the moment be the crowd and not him. @Mets #LGM
40 years ago today, the Mets beat the Red Sox in Game 6 of the 1986 World Series.

The ineptness of these announcers for the World Series. They just said that Trevor Megill went from starter for the @Mets to the closer for the @Brewers. No, Trevor and Tylor Megill are two different people. A minimum knowledge of the game no longer seems to be a prerequisite to being the voice of the World Series. Pathetic.

I’ll start by saying I think David Stearns is the single worst exec in all of sports. But the narrative that the @Mets are responsible for Peralta sucking this year is a bridge too far. He’s a high end big league pitcher. He has his own programs and trainers and dieticians and handlers. His failure in NY cannot be blamed entirely on the Mets. He needs to accept some, if not the majority, of the blame. McLean, Scott, and Thornton all thrived and they have less experience combined than Peralta. Giving Freddy a free pass and blaming the org is short cited and lacks in depth. But yes, regardless of this, Stearns is an abject failure

This isnt a pro or anti death penalty post. Its a post about how America needs to be better. Using lethal injection, the electric chair, the gas chamber...they all come with enormous risk of failure. And failure is not only inhumane but it also calls into question any other execution that follows. If an execution is necessary in this country (and that is the rightful source of significant debate), why not use a firing squad? Its instant, painless, flawless, and accomplisheds goals of the state. instead, we now have international headlines that show that this death row inmate was tortured, didnt die and may now have brain damage. Its just a bad look for the country, its unfair to the victim's family and it makes everyone involved look completely incompetent

After watching the Sonny Gray interview after last nights game, I believe the @Mets should look to sign him for 1-2 years once he declines his option with the @RedSox. Dude is a competitor that wants to win. He’d fit great with Andy Green’s managerial style.

I was spending some time thinking more critically about David Stearns’ press conference and after careful consideration and in depth analysis, I’ve determined that David Stearns is a just a complete and total douchebag. @Mets

Somehow David Stearns managed to make @Mets fans hate him even more today. How Steve Cohen allows him to continue to represent the Mets is really insane. I guess this is an uncapped downside scenario.

The softball question to David Stearns are unbecoming of NY media. Example: “David how you do assess the farm system pre and post deadline?” Why don’t you ask him how he spent $370mm to finish last place? Why not ask him why he didn’t do a thing to fortify the rotation? Why not ask him why he deserves to continue as the Pres of this team? Why not ask him why he left Mendoza in for so long? Why not ask him what he believes he needs to do to win back the fan base that has zero confidence in him?@Mets

The @Mets should part ways with Baty, Vientos, and Alvarez but they should hold onto Mauricio. They haven’t given him a fair chance and he could be the guy that breaks out. @Mets

This list is terrible. Breaking Bad is good but it isn’t the best show of the century. And the failure to include the actual best show of the century in the top 100 is ridiculous. Sons of Anarchy is the best show of the century. @SonsofAnarchy
The New York Times just dropped its full list of the best TV shows of the 21st century. Thoughts? 📷: The New York Times

Just checking in with @rabois about this war that allegedly ended 200 days ago.
BREAKING: President Trump tells Fox News that he is in a "deciding mode" and that "very big things" are going to happen in the near future. Trump describes his current choices as "wiping Iran out, letting them rot economically, or making a deal." "If and when I blow the entire nation up, they better behave," Trump says. Today marks day 204 of the Iran War.

At this point, it doesn’t matter what @StevenACohen2 has said to the media about David Stearns. The customer has spoken. Stearns has hurt this fan base immensely and that can’t be fixed. Cohen’s credibility is on the line and keeping Stearns will destroy any good will he has built. And I know I’m not as important as a @Mets beat reporter so he won’t respond here, but taking the time to correct the media on X about the whereabouts of Stearns rather than simply apologizing to his customers for the awful job his exec has done just shows a total tone deafness and lack of true care for his company. #LGM

A lot of talk about Alonso and the fan reaction but let’s focus on the real problem at Citi Field…the dancers on the dugout. Why is this a thing? It’s ridiculous and not NY at all. Get rid of them. @Mets

I was at last nights game and I was embarrassed. I despise David Stearns and wish he was fired but the total disrespect to the team from the fans was awful. It’s the 9th inning. The @Mets are up by a run and the fans do a curtain call for the opposing team after they hit a game tying homer? That’s just gross.

The @Marlins still have an outside shot at the playoffs. Wouldn’t it be poetic justice for the @Mets to come to Miami and end those hopes with a sweep this week. The Marlins treated the last week of last season like it was the World Series. Time for some payback. #LGM

The @Dodgers are no longer the example for why a salary cap is necessary but, instead, they represent the need for @MLB to require financial disclosures from team ownership as to where funds are coming from that finance operations. This story is only just getting started and it’s becoming increasingly more likely that the Dodgers championships were built through financial crimes and cheating. If this were @StevenACohen2 and the @Mets the media would’ve already called for their heads. But it’s the Dodgers so they are “letting the facts come out”. Giant hypocrisy but the truth will come out and watching the Dodgers crumble will be just so enjoyable. #LGM
