What an amazing image this Artemis Lunar Eclipse shot turned out to be. In addition to the beautiful Eclipse the planets Saturn, Mars and Mercury are visible in the image. The planet Neptune is also in the image, but not visible located midway between Saturn&Mars. @JustinWeather

With 26 inches of snow on the ground today, we're feeling pretty confident that we will have a White Christmas this year. In fact, Anchorage has had a White Christmas every year on record with the exception of 1963, 1985, and 1986! Hey @NWSAtlanta - We have enough to share. 🙃

It's Severe Weather Awareness week. Some tornado myths debunked: Tornadoes are less likely to hit big cities. False. Big bodies of water, like the Bay, protect you from tornadoes. False. You should open the windows to equalize the air pressure should a tornado strike. False.

Regarding the number of wildfires across the country...the last year with above average numbers was 2011. Even with the tragic fires raging in CA, total numbers for this year remain below average. nifc.gov/fireInfo/nfn.htm
