Patrick was one of those icons who we somehow all took for granted would always be with us.
I grew up as a fan, and was later gifted the privilege of becoming a colleague and friend, working with him for many years on “American Dad!”, “Family Guy”, and “Ted”. He was that rare actor who could take any bit of dialogue and elevate it, making a good writer sound great, and a great writer sound masterful. He was also as humble as they come. I remember exchanging emails with him a number of years ago when he was beginning day 1 of a new film. He commented to me that he always walked onto a new set feeling like the biggest novice there. My stunned reaction was the same as anyone’s would be. I said, “Patrick, if you feel that way, the rest of us are screwed.” We have lost a legendary actor today, and for many of us, a good friend. He will be deeply missed by the entire planet.

I’d say you’re half right and half wrong. Blame corporations, but the why isn’t about greed. It baffles me how people don't realize BioWare isn't the giant it used to be. Sure, they made some of the greatest RPGs ever, but that was over a decade ago. Since then, studios like Larian and Owlcat have risen to the challenge and actually delivered what players have been asking for.
Past achievements don't pay the bills, and nostalgia only gets you so far. Eventually, fans realize you're taking their loyalty for granted and start looking elsewhere.
BioWare used to be a name that commanded respect. Now it's a cautionary tale of what happens when a studio fails to live up to its own legacy.

Remember in like 2020 when a game dev leaked on Reddit that they had to make female characters masculine or else the trans morons would get upset because women represented a standard of feminine beauty they could never achieve? Ever since then, troons got in positions of power and we have characters like mags, taash, etc and every game has to have body type 1-2 rather than male and female. Inversion of reality and it is instantly immersion killing. And the more it happens, the more pushback from fans because it is everywhere. Every game, film, and tv is sanded down and sanitized down to the last atom for the sake of feminists. That’s still not enough, they even put out articles targeting older games like dead or alive xtreme volleyball for example
Credit to rockstar for making Lucia look like a real hot Latina woman and not Sylvester Stallone with tits but even I have fears about what is sanitized about GTA6 compared to 4 or earlier titles.
